How to determine what dress size is, I am 5'10" weigh around 125 lbs, bra size is 34b, waist 31 inches and hips around 34 inches. What size would I be?
8 or 10 sounds about right, I am 175 5'10" 36D waist is in the 32" range. Mediums. Now jeans I'm a size 6 all day.
hello Judy I am a 110 lb 28 waist to a 30 waist, I would go for a size 8 or 10 , my self. make sure on size chart is what your waist is, material makes a difference and where its made from and coming from. I bought a size 10 skirt and was too big, for a dress 8 or 10 would be a good fit. but check the size chart to double check. if you are buying in store see if you can try it on to make sure it fits, if you are afraid to ask make sure you can bring back for right size.
Judy,
The best advice is to try everything on before purchasing. Size 8 or 10 sounds right to me, but the fit may differ from brand to brand and style to style.

My suggestion is to visit a mainstream department store, such as JC Penny, or Macy's, approach a sales clerk and ask help. Say something like: "I am beginning to explore my softer side and have no idea what size dress I should wear." Describe the look you are seeking, flirty, glamorous, office worker, girl next door casual, etc. and ask for recommendations. Try on some dresses and let her (or him!) evaluate you.
Always remember, their job is not to judge or mock you but to sell you things. I think you will find they are expert at putting a customer at ease and making it a pleasant experience. After all, return sales are also a goal.
Visit during mid-afternoon and dress casual, Dockers and Polo shirt are excellent choices. Relax and do not forget to breathe! Have fun!
And please, let us know how it works out. Pics will be a bonus.
Just summon up your courage and go to a dress shop on Monday morning opening time. CSR's often earn commission and will be happy to consult with you on size and offer to measure you. They will let you try two or three sizes and offer their professional opinion. They are doing this because not only are they selling you a dress, they are starting a relationship where both CSR and customer will profilt.
Hi Judy,
I'm also 5' 10", but heavier, and 33" waist. In dresses and tops, I wear a Large (with rare exceptions). The issue with dresses is that they are NOT sized for shoulders, but for bust and waist, meaning you will require a larger size than would be normal for a GG. It also means you should avoid non-stretch fabrics, especially those with a zipper in back. A fitting is preferred for dresses because of this, but if you can't, I suggest a Large, with the return option if it doesn't fit.

If you do your shopping online, you can probably find sizing charts for the clothes offered by the various manufacturers. Don't assume that your size in one brand of clothes will be the same in other brands. Check the size chart for each brand.
My guess is size 8.
I gotta disagree with the 8-10 crew. Sorry 🙂
I had a 30 inch waist, and 10 was hit or miss. With 31 inches I'd try a 12.
You'll have more luck with sleeveless or even short sleeves than longer styles. It's a shoulders thing.

This is exactly right. Especially if you are shopping on eBay or other sites like aliexpress. Size L in China is a full size smaller than size L in USA. You have to look at the measurements. Shoes are not universal either. Even when the site uses U.S. sizes, you have to look at the foot length to know for sure. Even European shoe size is different from site to site.
The worse for me is getting top and bottom sets. I'm an L/XL on top but M or M/L on bottom. Forever21 is great for selling 2-piece sets separately. It ends up being slightly more expensive (bummer) but that's life. We don't live in a one-size fits all world!
