Wel, I have talked about it for a while and I finally pulled the trigger on getting my ears pierced. I found a local piercing shop that uses single use needles and it was quick and easy. I can't do anything with them for about another 3 months besides the studs that are in there now but I have to say I am glad I finally did it. I am looking forward to the day where I can finally wear real earrings rather than clip-ons.
Does anyone else have their ears pierced? How did it go? Any long-term things I should keep in mind?
Hi Natalie,
I finally pulled the trigger and had my ears pierced 3 weeks ago. Like you, I went to a professional piercing place and had it done with a needle. I got these flat back titanium studs with a highly polished black chrome cap. They're fairly androgynous looking but shine bright when the light hits them just right. Can't wait until I can wear pretty hoops.
I'm sure people have noticed, yet no one has said a word about the studs, including close friends..
I'm really glad I did it. So far the only downside has been needing to exercise care in pulling shirts on and off.
Enjoy them.
Congratulations, Natalie! I had my ears pierced many years ago, and it was a major boost for my feminine confidence! I can't wait for you to be able to experience all the cute options you'll have once your ears have healed!
Just one word of advice (from a girl who has made this mistake) ...please follow your care instructions and not try to rush things. Piercing is an actual wound which must be kept clean and cared for properly. And you'll love the results!
Hugs,
Shawna
I love my pierced ears, have hoops dangling just makes me happy!
This is something I'd love to do. I'm scared off, but also fascinated by the idea that, the first earrings need to stay in a good length of time, kind of wanting to take a step that can't be easily reversed like changing my clothes.
I did my own several years ago. I'm thinking about doing it again. I'll get it done this time though so I know placement is correct. Esy to do your own. Didn't even hurt
I had my ears pierced last July when I decided that I'm staying living as Fiona. I also wear little silver sleeper hoops most of the time. I love to feel the little movements that remind me of their presence. Tonight I've got some nice dangly gold-wire flowers in with little moonstones in the middle - they're so light though, I hardly know they're there!
I've had my ears pierced for a little over a year now. I like to wear medium-sized hoops when in drab but go for drops or larger hoops when dressed. I love silver, all my earrings are silver and silver-coloured, as are my bracelets and my necklaces. The only thing that isn't is a pearl necklace I like to wear with certain outfits that benefit from something under-stated.

Had mine done 20 years ago. So sorry I waited so long to enjoy all the beautiful styles I can wear now.
Tips? Well be aware that if you wear heavy, dangling earrings for a long time the weight will pull on your ear lobe and make them longer. Also, if you go without wearing them for an extended period the "tunnels" can close and they will have to be done all over again. Happened to my niece. I don't know how long it takes, but I'm not taking any chances.
Welcome to the club Natalie from two year earring girl. I just love hoops and statement earrings.
Be sure to use the cleaning solution religiously for 6 to 8 weeks, 3 times a day.

I'm looking into basic earlobe piercings. Has anyone found a clear or flesh color stud? Long story, conservative employer, really none of their business but I want to be low key.
Further to my post above, just seven days ago, I got my ears pierced a second time; don't know why, just seemed like a good idea at the time.
I've been thinking about piercing my ears for a long time. I think I'm going to do it real soon. My wife is encouraging me to (who knows I'm a CD/Gender fluid) and I brought it up with some colleagues (who don't know my little secret, but know I tend to cross the line on things) to see if other folks would care and they said go for it. So I think I'm just going to try and find the right spot. Love this post for the encouragement. Thanks.
For many years I looked longingly at the huge choice of earrings. Even though I did have a collection of clasping earrings it wasn't the same.
Then one day walking in the mall, I noticed a pop-up shop called NOO YOO. It specifically provided the service of ear-piercing. One sterile disposable pack pierced my ears and put in the training studs that I had chosen. I dutifully waited the month or so required for the wound to heal completely. Since then, I have bought insane amounts of earrings. If I was to give advice, it is to insist on a sterile one-use needle and wait for as long as it takes for your ears to heal. Then you can have fun learning about how to wear drop earrings and bangles. xxxx However, you may need a story for people in your life who will notice the training studs.
I got both my ears pierced when I was 18 at a jeweler's shop. Was advised to wear a gold sleeper / hoop in each ear every day for about two months. These days, in male mode, I just go for one ear only, but alternate the ear to keep the piercings alive. However, when I'm in en femme mode, I wear earrings in both ears.
I also had my nose pierced when I was 19 and used to wear a nose stud. My wife hates it. I still wear it when in en femme mode.
