Hi all

I wonder if any of you girls have a similar problem to me:

As a partially in-the-closet TV (married - wife is aware but doesn't want anything to do with it), I find that I get less and less time to dress, and am almost always short of time.

Quite often, I'll just have time to wear some feminine clothing, and apply a little bit of makeup.  Because of my time restraints I need to be able to remove whatever makeup I'm wearing quickly, leaving no trace.

I'm still working on false lashes (I really struggle to apply them, although I'm vowing to keep trying until I improve - the videos make it look so easy), as they are much easier to remove than mascara.  I almost always wear lipstick, but more and more I am encountering "long lasting" lipsticks - I tend to order online from China (mainly from Temu but also occasionally Wish), as their prices are cheap, and the quality is mostly acceptable, but an awfully large proportion of their vast lipstick range is make up of the wand applied kind (almost a lip stain, rather than a lipstick), and although this will eventually rub off, takes much longer to remove than standard lipstick.

It's a shame because there are some amazing shades available (I prefer bolder colours - I think because I like to look like I'm wearing lipstick - nude colours don't work for me), but I am put off by the worry of not being able to remove it in time (or worse, accidentally leaving some in place).

I just think it would be nice if there was an "easily removable" section for us part-time girlies, and I wouldn't have so many wonderful shades of lipstick that I can only wear when on business trips.

Thanks for reading and I hope I didn't go on too much.

Gloria xx

I'm in a similar situation with regard to time. I always apply full makeup, though I don't use false lashes as I can't see well enough to place them correctly. (I must get around to checking out makeup spectacles...) So it's mascara for me. Fortunately I have nice natural eyelashes!

When it comes to lippy I use Rimmel standard twist-ups with a lip liner.

For taking it all off again I just use a couple of face wipes that can deal with waterproof makeup. A pack of 25 wipes costs £1 to £5 depending on brand. Simple is a good one, but I find little difference between them. It takes me 10 to 15 minutes to remove and wash. If using mascara you need to pay particular attention to the eye area.

@glodar Neutrogena Makeup wipes work great for me removing all kinds of makeup so they might be helpful when you have to do a quick cleanup.   They get everything off for me including mascara and eyeliner.

Hi Gloria. I am mostly on a hurry too. I have not find easily removed makeup but I can not tell I am a sort of an expert.

I use makeup removers since a makeup girl recommended them to me. These even work with waterproof makeup. They are available online or at stores at a reasonable cost. They are effective.

However, I also hope to benefit from this forum. I'm a neophyte when it comes to many things about makeup.

So thanks for the post.

I'm about to find out about full makeup removal 🙂  Facewash and a flannel has so far taken care of lipstick and eyebrow pencil no problem, but my first concealer, foundation and mascara arrived this week ready for tomorrow night. I have micellar water ready at hand and fingers crossed!

Hi Fiona, I'm confident you'll find that a facewipe or two will remove your foundation with ease. Just make sure the pack says they'll clean waterproof makeup. The mascara is a little more tricky to get rid of with the wipes, but it will come off. One wipe normally does for me, but use a second if need be. Afterwards wash with soap and water, then use your flannel to get rid of any telltale panda eye marks, especially under the eyes.

Good luck for tomorrow night, hon!

@jacquelinelarkspur Thanks for the tip Jacqueline 🙂  I was hoping the micellar water and cotton wool pads would be up to the job (I'd already bought them before joining CDH), but on your advice I might just pop into town this lunchtime to pick up some waterproof makeup wipes too.

Hugs,
Fiona xxx

@glodar Eeeek :shy: Thanks for the vote of confidence but, unless by some miracle, I suspect my first attempt at a full face would stop a clock!  I will probably take pictures though, to be able to see how I improve with practice.  Maybe then I'll post something.

Actually, I'm very pleasantly surprised 🙂  When it gets approved, the grainy photo I've just uploaded to my public profile doesn't do the smiling happy girl in the mirror any justice at all!  A quick play with the other wig and then it's time to try some stick-on nails 🙂

Since many of us appear to be living parallel lives, here’s a few hints that work for me.

Clear mascara- it won’t be as fun or glamorous as the standard black, but it will thicken, lift and separate lashes in a very similar way. So if you don’t have time for the big facial clean or don’t want to argue…

Most importantly, it cleans up extremely easy and won’t leave the black around your eye area. I use Maybelline Great Lash Clear.

Lip color- cheap lip color almost always stains your lips- especially shades of red.
Try Estée Lauder, L’Oreal, and even Revlon in other shades. They are smooth and feel luxurious on your lips. I avoid red 99% of the time, and then only if I have a lot of time to clean my lips.

cleaning lips and eyes- try Neutrogena makeup remover wipes. They are not too expensive and many other companies sell cheaper versions. They work well.

lip cleaning trick- a little toothpaste and water on your toothbrush and literally brush your lip area to remove residual red. This can be tough on your soft lips- but it helps. Afterward try some Silk & Shine lip softener from Blistex.

I never even try to use eyeliner - there is always a little bit left, no matter how much I try and I’m left with irritated red eyes!

Hope these help

I almost forgot- try wearing some clear lip gloss it’s fun and inexpensive. You can also apply it over some lipsticks that don’t shine as much as you would like. Just ensure to clean the wand tip of lip color before replacing it in the tube.

ok, the link to the makeup remover towels did not work, they are called  "makeup eraser"  it is a micro fiber towel that only needs warm water  they come in black or pink colors

also I use garnier micellar water and wipes to remove makeup,  using a qtip with micellar water under the lower lashes helps get residual mascara off

@leah63 I like this tip Leah- I’m going to try it. I had tiny residual mascara on my eyes this past Monday and I could see my wife staring…
