Does anyone use epilators for hair removal? I just got a braun 5 and I love it. It is a little uncomfortable to use but worth it. I love my smooth legs now. Leonora
Hi Leonora. I am interested in these as I have no experience with them at all. Shaving is such a pain in the butt and this seems a positive alternative. If it solves the problem of the itchy legs after shaving, i'm definately going to invest in one!

Epilator on the legs yes. The first time resulted in lots of red angry pores, and a few ingrowing hairs, but since then it is better. Having black hairs means any shaving seems to last only hours before the pesky blighters start poking through my tights. I still shave as very short hairs escape the epilator, and I only have time to epilate once a week.
There is a facial attachment and it does the job on my cheeks, if somewhat painful in places. Anywhere else on the face is OUCH! I wouldn't recommend trying it on your face and then applying makeup though: you need to give your skin a few hours to recover.
This may sound extreme but I have sometimes removed all my moustache hairs with tweezers (that's a fun hour) and it takes years off me! A lovely smooth skin-coloured upper lip. Again having black hairs means that the grey shadow reappears within a day or two even if the bristles don't reach the surface for several days.
I have been considering an epilator. My wife and I have actually discussed purchasing one on several occassions - she because she hates shaving, and me because I am looking for something that lasts longer than a few days. We both, however, are reluctant of pull the trigger as neither of us like to shell out that kind of money without being sure we're getting a good product.

Mine is one of the Braun Silk-Epil 5 family. It also comes with a decent shaver head as well which means it will serve a purpose even if you give up on the epilating! It cost me a tad over £40 and has worked fine for 6 months now. I've not used another to compare it with.
I will say if you are prepared to shave your legs once every one or two days then that may be better than going the epilator route. It takes me longer to epilate than shave, but it does save a lot of shaving time for a couple of weeks thereafter.
I forgot to say "exfoliate" previously. As the risk of sounding like a dalek : EPILATE! EXFOLIATE! MOISTURISE!
Here is an interesting article about shaving vs epilating vs waxing hair:

I have been using one for bout 5 years now. I use it mostly on my chest. What once was a dense spiky gray-black mat of tangled hair on a muscular chest is now very soft and smooth set of 44C's. I only epilate abut once a week as it hardly grows back any longer.
I've been thinking about getting one also. I've looked into them a little and have one saved on my Amazon shopping list. All the YouTube videos I saw said it hurts, but that just made me want to try one even more.
The first time I tried shaving my legs, I ended up taking a big long slice of skin off my ankle. Took a couple of weeks to heal. After that, my legs (and any other parts except for arm pits) would itch like I was covered in fleas til the hair grew back.
If the epilator works out for my legs; then I'm going to try it on my hands and arms as I like they feel and look without hair.
I some times have a little rough stubble from shaving my face so my face isn't smooth as a lady's face, would an epilating my face help rather than shaving with a lady's shaving gel cream and lady's disposable razor?
I love smooth legs, I don't mind shaving but I'll try one, just ordered it...

I some times have a little rough stubble from shaving my face so my face isn’t smooth as a lady’s face, would an epilating my face help rather than shaving with a lady’s shaving gel cream and lady’s disposable razor?
It wouldn't replace shaving, but would make the shaving easier and more effective. There are always some lurking bristles eager to poke out. As I mentioned I've used an epilator on my sideburns and cheek areas, but not elsewhere on the face as it hurts big time! Men's facial bristles are thick and deep and don't take very kindly to being ripped out. To begin with expect a few ingrowing hairs as well. There's no easy fix I'm afraid.
I have not tried waxing, but do like epilators. I find it best after a nice relaxing bath so the steam helps to open the pores and then it is relatively painless. Lots of moisturizing afterwards and leaves your skins so soft.
I just ordered this one from Amazon. Should be coming in the mail a few days before I get home. I'm excited to try it.

Hi ya girls, I agree with all said about epilators. I have also read about using shaving gel cream and lady’s disposable razor. I use gel and like it, but it doesn't matter what type of disposable razor you use I have found them to be terrible when compared with what is out there. I use a Fusion razor. 5 blades and it vibrates at a high speed. I have been shaving my legs for so long I can go for weeks and you can barely tell.
Here is an interesting lady's leg item I saw on TV and then went to website in TV ad
