does anyone else have a particular love of the contemporary fashion not necessarily from their childhood, not from when they first dressed, but when they really knew they had a girl inside wanting to stuff he wardrobe?
it all first hit its head (though i had dressed up in my mom's clothes in secret before) when i was 9 and saw "men who work as women" on jerry springer. this was late 1996, and that late 90s era always stuck with me - that sort of rave-inspired bright colour i especially associate with english fashion. one item i would love to have and would buy at just about any risk is a lime green short-sleeved dress with a stripe - probably black with white outlines, on the breast. lots of horizontal stripes, bright colours, etc... stereolab was just a name to me back then, but this is one of the things that makes me love mary hansen so much. she may have been an angel, plus she would wear what i was dreaming of when i first acknowledged the little girl inside.
Gosh, I remember trying on some of my mums summer dresses when I was very young, although they we way to big for me, but the floral designs have stayed with me and certainly influenced what dresses I wear today. I think British fashion from the 50's to even today have some fabulous styles and vibrant colours to choose from. Definitely with you on the stripes, I usually like striped roll neck jumpers with jeans. Depending on the dress stripes can really make quite a striking difference to your figure, certainly a horizontal stripe under the bust line to the waist (especially if you have hip pads on) makes an amazing illusion of feminine curves.
I remember a dress my mom had. Beautiful blue and white fur(fake) collar.
But what I find strange is that drab I am not interested in or have any fashion sense. I for the life of me could not properly match a tie and shirt. And you can forget about any jewelry.
But when shopping for a dress, blouse, skirt, slacks, shoes I seem to know how to put it all together. And I cannot get enough rings, bracelets....
I find underwear a real separation when I did dress as a guy. I had boxer shorts and t shirts. And just enough to get me through the week.
As a girl I have draws stuffed with panties...
