I'm a bit overwhelmed.  Rather than asking specific questions, can you point me to some resources online for buying and applying makeup?  I just need some basic tutorials and a shopping list.  I know this has probably been asked before, but I can't find a good starting point when I search, all I find is pictures of well-done up ladies. My goal is to make my face so pretty that my wife won't mind me cross dressing in public. lol

Roan you look lovely.  Thank you so much.  Going to make up my face tomorrow for the first time.

Jamie.....howdy!  You tube has many excellent videos on make-up....each one covers thing 1 item at a time...ie: foundation, eyes, cheeks, lips and so on. L'oreal Paris also has tutorials frrom the #1 make-up company in the world.  Happy viewing a success!

that seems one of the best reasons for doing it, that I have ever heard. How are you doing anyway?

I know how you feel. I could use some advice myself. Can you ask your wife?

Hey Gina, I'm doing pretty good.  My wife is quite fantastic and understanding of my dressing the more I talk to her about it, and she has decided to stick around for another year or two, at least until our youngest graduates, which makes me very happy.  I think scheduling therapy made her understand that I really want to be happy in my own skin, and that our relationship could survive.  If she decides to leave in a couple of years, I can't really blame her, she didn't sign up for the feminine version of me.  And perhaps I'm setting myself up for disappointment.  But so far, so good, trying to enjoy the present day, and not plan too far ahead.

As far as her showing me how to apply makeup, she says she will. But she's not exactly an expert. lol  She wears very little, sometimes none.  I'm more girly than she is sometimes and I actually showed her a few things yesterday.

Jaime, You may have already told us. If not how did the makeup session turn out.

It wasn't horrible. 🙂 I need a different color of foundation and need to figure out how to color correct my blue looking five o'clock shadow (that emerges by noon).  I really want to get laser hair removal on my face so much.

Glad to hear the experience was a good one. For beard correction I use products from Ben Nye, it's theatrical but works well. You want something red/orange to counter the blue shadow. I hear ya about laser girl. I'm still learning too but it can be fun as long as I accept that it will take practice

Did you try a warm tone concealer on your 5:00 before applying foundation? I use a peach color I got from Sephora. The girls there were very helpful and set me up with the right colors. I was a bit nervous going in, but told them I'm shopping for makeup to give myself a feminine look & they were more than happy to help. Rather expensive though.

2nd attempt went better.  Putting the correct orange/peach color concealer helped a lot.  And I got a foundation that matched my skin better...I forgot that I had tanned a lot this year and I'm not that fair skinned anymore.  The eyeliner I got was crap, confirmed that with some online reviews, but I borrowed some from my wife. Some things I noticed though:  my face still has a rather manly shape; glasses may help with that.  My eyebrows are carefully groomed but still bulky, may need to trim them just a little more, but I know I need to be conservative with that, and may need to conceal them a bit too.  Mostly I just need to lose weight.  I've been down to 165 before when I was in great shape a few years ago, going to try to get down to that.  I know I lose weight in my face first and that will help.  Despite the problems I was pretty happy with most of the results and enjoyed putting it on.  Will keep practicing and experimenting.

Best part is my wife didn't freak out.  She was ok with it and knows I'm a work in progress.

That’s so awesome, I’m stoked to hear your progress.

Have you considered contouring to help disguise the masculine facial shape?

My wife suggested that.  I will give it a shot next time.
