Hi Ladies,
I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on some good foundation? I have been using Cover Girl, but I am wanting to try something else to see if it works better. Looking for something less oily. Any recommendations that won’t break the bank?
I use Limelife by Alcone. It's plant-based and although it's quite expensive it goes a long way. Mine is colour-matched to the skin at the top of my chest.
It might not be available your side of the pond, but I use No7. Stay Perfect liquid foundation. Before I was using that, I was using their powder foundation, but it only comes in one colour and it's too dark for me. powder is better for covering up beard shadow.
Stay Perfect comes in many shades, so you'll need to find the right one.
Many swear by MAC. It's expensive, but it's very good, apparently. A few of my drag queen friends use it.

My fave is maybelline fit me matte. Next is cover girl clean matte foundation. I only use drug store brands as I can't afford anything else.
Clinique’s Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer. Recommended to me during a make-up lesson last year. Nice to have the two in one as it helps with coverage. I still do a lighter concealer below the eyes.
During a make over at Keystone last year the makeup artist commented how good it was as we used my foundation one night. Easy to get at Ulta.

Hi Shayna!
I use MAC. I built up the nerve and went to the counter and just threw it out there to the pretty sales clerk. I told her I was looking for a foundation to match my skin. Without batting an eye, she walked me over the foundation section and started matching me up. She was so nice and supportive She really put me at ease and made me feel comfortable as she tried a couple of shades on me (right in the middle of the store with customers all around!) she was very professional and took her job seriously.
I was so at ease that I actually pulled out my phone and showed her a pic of me dressed. Her mouth dropped and a visible excitement came over her. She said, “OMG! Is that really you???” Our conversation changed and she was so flattering and complimentary, as well as asking me a lot of questions in a way girls talk. It was very exciting for me to admit this to her and to receive the support she gave. I see her often now, and show up dressed to see her when I shop. She continues to flatter me and treat me incredibly well! She treats me like a woman and makes me feel like we’re just two girls just talking!
Anyways, I digress-sorry! Shayna, I know MAC is a little pricey, but it’s really good. Best I’ve used. Also, if you can ever build up the courage to do what I did, I guarantee it’ll be worth it and you’ll be on cloud 9!

I use Clinique Even Better Refresh hydrating & repairing foundation.
I tried some liquid foundations but found them to be a bit heavy/oily feeling. (Could be user error though)
Also, being on the older side of things, I found that the foundation kind of settled into wrinkles no matter how well I moisturized. Just seemed to accentuate the wrinkles and make me look older/tired.
I ended up trying some powder foundations and really liked Laura Geller’s baked powder foundation. I do some color correction before applying for some tough areas, but I really like the results and feel. Plus it is easy to control the amount of coverage with the retractable kabuki brush that I bought with it.
While its best to go to a pro and ask for help in selecting your brand and shade of foundation or concealer. There are several companies that offer color selection on their website. One i like it ".ilmakiage.com ". They have a quiz that will help you select the right shades and type of finish for the look you may want.
Dont be surprised if it takes several brands or shades to get what works best for you. There is reason that there is so much variety to choose from. Everyone is different.
I am rather partial to dermablend cover cream. I use that with a beauty blender as it’s a bit thick and needs to be layered down. It’s a bit more pricey but it has lasted a while and I’ve gotten in in stores like Ulta as well as online at Amazon.
echoing a few points above, it might not be a bad idea to go to a store like ulta or Sephora and the ladies there can help you. They can help you pick a good shade and offer choices of product.
have fun!
