hi girls! hope you are all well.
I have a question regarding foundation and concealer. I think I understand what they do and I would like to experiment with them. the part I dont understand is colour matching to skin and to each other.
1. has the foundation and concealer got to be the same colour or close?
2. has the foundation got to be lighter than the concealer?
3. has the foundation got to be darker than the concealer?
I have watched videos but have trouble making sense of it all! I really am tying myself up in knots here!

That's something I'll be needing to learn as well. My only experience with make-up has only ever been with dark red, glossy, slutty lipstick. While I've always thought my lips sexy and sensual wearing it, there were other, more sexual reasons behind my use of it.
Hi Fiona,
The foundation should match your skin shade.
The best way to test with so many shades out there is to take the testers at the store and a run strip on your cheek to make sure the shade matches your skin.
When in doubt ask for help at the store.
The concealer is a lighter shade than your skin and therefore a shade or two lighter than your foundation.
I would suggest looking into color corrector because of facial stubble and it helps cancel out the bluish color.

Hi again Fiona.
It is a good idea to have the concealer have a similar shade as the foundation but they don’t have to be an exact match. Concealer will just provide better coverage to the skin imperfection you may be trying to,well, conceal! Do you want to to make it even more complicated and add up the Correctors to the mix? *evil grin*. Correctors are used to be used on areas where the coloring is not the same as in most of your face. You may see them in a diverse palette of colors which are not the same as the skin, like red, green, yellow, because the idea is that once you apply it on top of a red spot in your face (just an example) you may need green or yellow corrector on it, depending on your own skin tone. Of for some the blueish looking color of dark facial hair even after a very close shave.
Anyway, lighter or darker concealer/foundation, the result after blending all makeup, if done well, should be as close as possible to having flawless skin and not be wearing any makeup at all.
Love
