So, I find that I want to share with you girls what my shopping finds were, practically every weekend. For example, a couple weekends ago, I went to some garage/yard sales and got 3 skorts (2 with the tags still on them) and a white fleece jacket for 25 cents each. Yeah, I couldn't pass up on that one. One of those skorts is the one I recently wore for my first mostly dressed outing.
Maybe nobody really cares, but I was excited and have no one but you girls to share these things with. So, yesterday at Goodwill, I got a lighted makeup mirror. I haven't really figured out makeup yet, and part of my problem is that I can't see what I'm doing without my readers on. And, its kind of hard to do your lashes when you have glasses on. So, I'm hoping a good sized magnified mirror will help.
But, my clothing finds were the really fun thing! I got a pair of faux leather leggings. They are leather like on the front, and then the back is regular stretchy black material. I have one black top that I think will look good with them. But, I have got to get myself some nice feminine footwear (both black and brown) that actually fit me. And, I got an adorable VS satin cami and short set too.
So, what was your shopping find of the weekend, or just the last thing you bought yourself?

Lol, the shops here are still closed, including goodwill, and garage sales are a no-go, as we are still in stay at home mode, but I recently discovered Zulily, BIG MISTAKE!!! I get notifications every day, and cant resist???
Latest finds, wedge sneakers(3 inch wedge), that I have been searching for for a month, in my size, and a cute ruched tank top,in Lilac

Hi Birel
Weekend purchase bright flowery short what I thought was a dress Turned out it's a playsuit. Still feels lovely on and fits perfect with forms on.

Great work finding the skorts and jacket! At Savers yesterday I found a t-shirt that says "Stay wild at heart" with some feathers on it, a 4th of July blouse, and a low-cut blouse that I'm not sure how I'll pull off.
Xoxo, Dani
I bought a white and pink splatter print accordion pleat flowy skirt at Wal-Mart. Regular price $16.97; clearance price $3.00, $3.23 with tax.
Goodwill, and most other places, are open here. But, Goodwill has not reopened their fitting rooms. So, unless I'm pretty sure something will fit me, I don't take my chances. When they do open the fitting rooms up, I will be like a kid in a candy store!
Good finds, I've never looked at wedge sneakers before. And, I occasionally see ads for Zulily, I'll have to check them out.

Sounds like a happy mistake to me. I've actually been looking for a romper for a while. I've seen a couple cute ones at Goodwill in small, but nothing that I could fit into. Ironically, when I got those 3 skorts, I thought they were skirts. They were on hangers, so I just grabbed the hangers and bought them. But, that's ok, I don't mind the skort style either.

Sounds like a cute top! Yeah, I've kind of been avoiding low cut tops, just because I don't have anything to show off up there. I'm not sure how to make something that open at the top look good on my body.

Great deal on the skirt. The other thing to watch for at Walmart is stuff that has really been marked down lower than the tags show. A few weeks back, I grabbed a pink sports bra from the clearance rack, marked $5. But, when I scanned it, it was actually $1.

not Goodwill but did get a great deal on some VS love and lemons brand bras and panties both for 30 dollars
Nice! Sadly, our local VS store recently closed its doors. So, our local lingerie options are a bit limited at the moment.

Yes very happy mistake wear most days with different color stockings, until I can get out for a Dress this time.

Hi Birel,
I am a fellow Goodwill Girl - about 90% of the dresses, shoes and outfits I wear come from there. I am fortunate to live in a big city with lots of Goodwill stores to chose from - it's interesting how some are much better than others for purchasing certain items (e.g., there's one that always has a good selection of jewelry which is not the case at the others).
The first thing I do when I enter the store is scan the shoe racks. I'm a lady's size 12 shoe so it is a rare, happy surprise if I encounter a pair that fits and is a style I want to wear. Then it's on to the treasure hunts among the aisles and aisles of skirts, tops, dresses, etc. I rarely leave empty handed. I'm happy being a closeted dresser - no interest in going out and trying to pass.
I dress for the purpose of doing photo shoots at home and once I've done that with a particular item of clothing, I usually donate it back to Goodwill. Except of course for those treasured shoes and a few favorite dresses, skirts, tops (my collection of these faves seems to be growing more and more).
Anyway, to your question: last week I purchased 4 tops, a skirt and a pair of ripped jeans for $30. I was about to buy the jeans on Amazon for something like $30 but then found what I wanted at Goodwill for $5 (see my recent photo). The skirt had a Macy's price tag still attached - original price $80, marked down to $24, purchased by me for $4.50!
Needless to say, I love shopping at Goodwill. Basically it's an endless supply of fresh wardrobe items at minimal expense. It's thrilling to play around with different looks and styles. I've gotten to the point where I know with a high degree of accuracy what's going to fit me in terms of the clothing items, especially dresses. But it does help that the dressing rooms here have finally re-opened.
One more thing about Goodwill - I like to think about the women who owned and wore these clothes before donating them. Who were they? What were their lives like, their frustrations, hopes and dreams? It is fun to think that the clothes are somehow still infused with the spirit of their femininity and that serves to add a nice extra dimension to my dressing experience.
Hugs,
Mona
Thanks for the advice Birel; it's a tip that I'm familiar with. I'm a pretty thrifty shopper, so I always check the price tags to keep myself within my budget.
still can go online and order right They have some clearance stuff sales online. Not as much as when going into the store. though. Sorry they closed your location.
