Well Roxxy this is always an issue for a lot of girls. Some will take a deep breath and go to a dressing service, an even bigger breath and visit the cosmetics counter of a store, go online and find a makeup service that will do home visit or look at the masses of informational videos on the media sites.

As a lot of girls here will tell you most stores are quite friendly and helpful even if you attend in drab as they have probably seen it all before. Makeup is quite individual and can be complicated to get the result you need.

Have a good think and maybe go to a professional.

Welcome to CDH Roxie.  I too have to recommend a professional.  I tried for decades and finally bit the bullet and went to Sephora.  It was a great experience but expensive as I bought all they recommended.  However I am very happy with what I learned and now go out often with confidence.

Hi Roxxy,

Welcome to CDH.  As Angela and Diana have suggested you might consider a professional makeover.  You can visit the beauty counter at Macys or another department store and chat with the consultant.  Both Walgreens and CVS have beauty counters. Many stores have consultants that have had training to obtain the title beauty consultant.  In fact CVS has a beauty club you can sign up and join.  You’ll get a nice package with samples to try.  Go in drab if you wish and ask the Beauty consultant for ideas on how to get started.  After your first visit you can return to get some ideas.  Remember to smile, enjoy yourself and don’t be nervous.  She’s a friend you haven’t met yet.

Alice
