So I impulsively ordered a pair of leather booties as the first hint of fall breezed into my area. I wear a size 10 in mens shoes so I ordered a size 12. My prior two shoe purchases were open toed strappy affairs but this was my first closed toe pair.
They arrived yesterday and I tried them on almost immediately and they felt a little snug. I wore them home from work and they felt tighter this time. I eventually pulled over in a secluded area and jumped out to walk in them a bit. The sound of the heels on the pavement was devine, but the shoes hurt. And after I got back in my vehicle I had to take them off, the soles now dirty and scuffed I knew I now owned these ill fitting shoes.....sigh I'm hoping I can stretch them out to the point I can wear them. If not some lucky girl who can wear a size 12 comfortably will be getting them. Why did I have to walk on something other than carpet!??!!
Darcy,
I think most girls have at least one pair of shoes that doesn’t fit. Usually the pair that you love the most.

Hi Darcy,
As a Bigfoot girl (12W in men's) I have several pairs of shoes which I CAN wear, but not in comfort. I suspect your problem is that you need o select wide width shoes for women; men's feet are usually D width, women's are B width. You may find an 11W to be a good fit, and they can be found in many stores. Try Shoe Show or DSW.

I think you can probably stretch them out but they may not be completely comfortable even after that but you know girls suffer for fashion... its expected. Get some shoe trees and leave them in the closet stretching for a bit and see if that helps. If they are real leather it will work but if synthetic it may not help. Good luck. They would never fit my huge dogs at 13 mens.
It might help to warm them up with a hair dryer then try to stretch them. Alternatively, you could partially fill two sandwich bags with water and settle them into the toes of the shoes and then put the shoes into the freezer, pointed toes down. As the water freezes it expands. Good luck!

Hi Darcy,
Torrid carries wider shoes in store to size 12. On line you can find 13 extra wide. They are CD friendly and you can try the shoes on in the store. If they don’t fit Return them to the store.

Yep! you own some tight boots now!!!
Sadly we've all probably fallen victim to overzealous behavior when we get a new article of clothing.
Shoes are the hardest thing to try on without messing up the soles and getting stuck with them...
get some shoe trees and see if you can stretch them some. Take them to a cobbler, tell him they're tight. See if they have a suggestion...
Good luck!

That's strange. If you wear a 10 in men's, then a 12 should be fine. Unfortunately, not all shoes are true to size. Continue to wear them for short periods of time. Leather should stretch a bit.
That's an interesting idea, stretching with ice. Reminds me of breaking military boots in by soaking them in water & walking them dry. 😀
Darcy, I'm a 10 1/2 in a men's street shoe, 11 1/2 in a running shoe. Women's size? How about 13!

A lot may depend on where the fit is bad, but you can try to get some shoe stretchers. I bought a pair of lockable high heels from Deviant. I wear a men's 9 1/2 to 10 W. Because the shoes only came in narrow width, I ordered a women's size 13. Still there was excruciating pain at the widest part of the foot, even if I wore them overnight in bed. But using a shoe stretcher, with plug-in nubs to put extra stretch at the point you need them most (plastic pieces that connect to the shoe stretcher in different places) and leaving it for about 24 hours (I only had one stretcher so I did one at a time) I was able to wear the shoes.
The funny thing was when I ordered a similar design in red, I had no problem, even though it was from the same company. So shoe sizes are even more finicky than women's clothing sizes.
