And I'm really liking the results! I do up one eye and compare with my "naked" eye and there's no doubt I believe the made up one is more attractive. And it works to minimize my droopy eyes. What now, a makeup obsession, to go along with my extensive nail polish collection/obsession?

Any suggestions on videos for a beginner would be most welcome, ladies.

Hi Luna,

I don't have one specific youtube video that I follow. I have watched many of them and have read articles on makeup. I take pieces of the videos and articles of techniques that work for me. You are just starting out. Buy some basic makeup, I started with the brands you can buy at the drugstore or grocery store. Then watch some videos and start to experiment. Don't forget to buy some makeup removal wipes. Your first few times will be your learning curve until you build some confidence. It takes time and practice.

You Tube is my number 2 resource for things like this, after CDH of course!

Great thing I love doing is pausing, rewinding as many times as it takes for me to understand the concept or method.  I’ve not got to make up yet, but I have a few videos saved for things like lip liner, applying liquid lipstick, how to do home manicure etc.  Other great thing is I can zoom in (I have bad eye sight).

Only ‘down’ side is I tend to have YT and Amazon open at the same time so I can shop for the products that I’m watching hehe.

Love Rachel

Hi Chloe,

Definitely a learning curve. And, I wear glasses for close up so trying to put it on was a disappointment, but funny. I thought I had done OK, then put on my glasses and it looked like it was done by a little kid who can't color between the lines. The manicurist recommended a magnifying mirror and it's been working...well. I'm getting used to the magnification but it works very well without glasses.

I bought an eye shadow pallet with a lot of colors so I can experiment to see what works for me. I also bought a nice set of brushes. My crazy ex had a full set of brushes and I really liked them when she did my makeup. The goal was sexy, if not...can I say slutty? Now, I want to look pretty because the makeup is for me.

Hi Rachel,

Yes, I do a lot of rewinding, but the results are encouraging, and I put it on pretty much all the time I'm not at work. And working from home has given me more opportunities.

And, yes, I get a lot of Amazon packages too. It's like Christmas every time something shows up and it's for the woman of the house (that's me, in case...). And I get to try it on right away and wear it all day like a kid who just got a superman costume.

Yes hun I’ve watched a few help tips online and also have watched my wife over the years. But I do find that it still takes practice as now I’m getting a lot better at doing it. I find I enjoy doing it and seeing the transformation. I would love to have a professional makeup artist give me some pointers!

Oh I watch hours ov YT videos on this subject. That written, I don't really have any go to channels, I generally search for specific tutorials i.e. How to... smokey eye, eye liner, contour etc.

looking back through my 'watched list' Brianna Fox does a lot of good ones and I have a lot of time for Wayne Goss.

I found Wayne Goss on youtube. I like him because he explains not just what to do or not do but also why. And I was starting to feel a little discouraged by all the videos of "quick and simple" make up routines that had 10 steps and almost as many different products. And about products, there are so many! But I like the results. I think Gabi looks better than her male counterpart.
