I am taking another small step going deeper. I want a wig I don’t hate but still have a beer budget (and cheap beer at that ). I have a size 7 3/4 or 24 1/2” head, which is very large for a man and would be exceptionally large for a woman so even a “large” size wig isn’t made to fit my head. I also have a price limit of $100. This isn’t for everyday out in the world wear but I would like to look more like me at home. I think a shorter style so I can wear it while doing my house chores without it constantly needing attention. Any suggestions would be welcome💃🏻💃🏻

Try a wig salon. They are very receptive and also have private rooms to try on wigs. They will be the best option for a Large wig and also can help with color and style choices that will compliment your skin and face shape.

Paula Young has a good selection large cap wigs in your price range.  I have had success with them for many years.   Godiva's Secret has nice large cap wigs also, but they are something of a splurge.  Still, they are worth it.

My head is 58cms, which most wig sites seem to think I'd need a large cap for, however, I find normal wig sizes fit me quite nicely (which is fortunate since larger sizes come in fewer variations). You head size is 62cms (sorry, I work in metric) so you should be able to fit a large size wig as there seems to be a lot more slack than you'd think.

It should also be noted that wigs do slacken after a short time of wearing so what seems a little tight now, may well be fine in a few weeks, or even days if worn a lot.

I have to add that my head measurement is on a shaved head, I can't comment on how these measurements work when taking compressible hair into account.

I agree with Cheryl. No need to feel uncomfortable in a wig salon where you can get advice in private since theses boutiques have seen many cds along the way. There is more to sizing in the wig like color and shaping for skin and face. Better to see yourself in the wig before buying. So many of my g/fs have been disappointed with mail order purchases since they never look on you as they do the models. You will feel so good too Megan in a wig that fits your style. Good luck

I am a big believer in going to a wig shop. They do not care what gender you are, or identify as, buy want to find the rigjt size color and style that works for you. It is fun to try on diffwrent lengths, styles and colprs to find what works for you. Thwre expertise and matching you skin tones, etc to the wig are well worth the price. As much as I would.like to be blond, after all they have more fun, right?, they just do not match my Italian olive skin tomes and dark eyebrows and lashes. Sttil, they were fun to try on.

Look up “lace front” wigs , imho that is going to be your best bet for a wig with a more realistic hairline. Once you have it fitted in place you trim the lace to follow your scalp line across the front and around the ears. You can find decent inexpensive ones new on eBay or Amazon for around $50ish.

@kat9476 thank you. Given that I am bald, where would my ‘scalp line’ be?

If you have a budget and unable to see a wig shop and just looking for something to wear around the house to try out Amazon has some good looking wigs not high quality but you can pick up on the cheap side and least have fun around the house I wore many of them before I broke down and paid about 200 for my new wig TC

Megan, I’ve got a big head too ( and I’m not talking about my ego).  But I’ve been able to find larger sized wigs in some styles that you mention at Paula Young.  I’d recommend them highly, and they have a search function that allows you to search for large cap wigs only.  So, happy head hunting, I’m looking forward to your next post when you find a pretty wig and see that pretty woman in the mirror.

I have just purchased my first wig it took three attempts via Amazon to find the right style. My wife is going to trim the fringe for me but very happy as a first foray, it was under £25. If this works I might buy a more expensive one later.
