Anyone else absolutely obsessed with kitten heels? Welcome to the club.

My favorite style are pointed toe sling backs that can be paired with a dress and long winter coat for a dinner outing. I saw a woman on NYE dressed that way and I so want to femulate her. If only I could find a cheap pair in price (never sacrifice quality) and if only my life and wife was more acceptable of going dressed out.

I have a pair of kitten heel pumps. They are so sexy, yet comfortable, when paired with skinny jeans.

@lea-jhene Yes, I love them and wear kitten heels a lot. I am also fine driving in them.

Hugs,

@lea-jhene I'm just getting into shoes and don't yet know much about them so I hadn't heard the term. now that I've looked them up I MUST have a pair. esp after trying to walk in 5" inch heels yesterday. I have my eye on a pair of christian louboutin slingback pumps. or... i'll get a new car instead and go with something a bit more reasonable 🙂

@brycenee24 Welcome to the amazing world of women's shoes. Just some advice... low heels, wedges, and block heels are easy ways to get used to heels. Easier to walk in and much more comfortable.

@lea-jhene so dangerous! Until your post spurred me to start looking investigating I had just assumed that I needed to shop for shows at CD stores or the like. But I'm a size 12 in womens so it appears the selection open to me is vastly larger than I thought 🙂 Width might be an issue but will try some out.

@brycenee24 I noticed lately that target has some shoe styles in size 12, but only available online. They have cute flats that I've had my eye on.

Torrid has size 12, even Wide Width, and often clearance sales.

Good luck shoe hunting!!

@lea-jhene

I have a pair of lovely Goth-y lace-up knee boots but they have something of a kitten heel - about 2 inches. I love them but wish the heels were higher 🙂

I actually find the low, kitten heel trickier to walk in than 3.5"+ stilettos.

@annaredhead They're from Joe Browns - quite Victorian black suede things. My partner got a pair a few years back and I was so jealous, then they brought them out again (re-booted them perhaps? Ahem!) and in size 9 so she got me a pair for last Christmas. 🙂

@caroline2k Looks like 9 is the largest size - I am a size 12, unfortunately.

Yes I know. I sympathise Anna, I really do, and I don't know how you manage. I suppose it's slightly easier to find larger sizes these days, especially with the interwebs. For years I put up with uncomfortable size 8 shoes because that was as large as I could get.

If it's any consolation (😉)Joe Brown still manage to disappoint by doing some of their prettiest shoes up to size 8 only. Rotters!

@caroline2k Not sporting of Joe Brown. Hope you tutted and rustled your paper.

I buy from Long Tall Sally for plain colours and also Amazon.

For blingy shoes, Irregular Choice do some shoes in my size and the whole range would probably fit you if they're to your taste.

I love Koi shoes. They look good and fit well - they size up large so I wear their size 11 - and work really well with retro and goth style outfits.

@annaredhead Haha, yes indeed. Mind you, looking at Joe Brown's usually makes me tut - their prices are a little beyond my purse, although I always check their sales... to find that my size is never available! Huge tut! 😀

To be honest, I tend to source my footwear from New Look who do 9s and (even better) wide fitting 9s. I don't really go for the 'blingier' side of things, although I never say never when it comes to sexy shoes 🙂

@caroline2k We visit York a couple of times a year. Joe Brown's shop in the outlet village is always work a look.

Also there I bought a pair of yellow DM's from the DM shop. Well they looked great in the shop, but I've never worn them.

A DM outlet shop? OMG, there's no way I'm taking The Boss anywhere near that! She absolutely loves Docs!

Same goes for the Joe Browns shop tbh! lol

@caroline2k I highly recommend the outlet villages at York and Ellesmere Port. Did I mention the really cheap Next dresses or M&S lingerie?

@@lea-jhene I can't say that I am absolutely obsessed with kitten heels, but I do like the idea of low stiletto shoes. I admired them on two doctors, last year.

The main problem that I have with shoes like that in public is that they stand out like the proverbial sore thumb. Not a great way to subtly dress androgynously.

@harriette Yes, they do stand out with their clickity clack sound (I love that sound though).

Going off topic.....

For an androgynous look, or less attention, I like to wear scrunch flats or pointed toe flats, usually black with matching trouser socks and with jeans. No one seems to notice. I have black suede round toe wedges that would work the same way.

I once had an epiphany - "why wear something feminine and try to hide it as androgynous, I'm a CD after all, just dress the part". That gave me sudden confidence for that moment to look feminine instead of androgynous wearing my flats without matching socks - they looked way cuter that way. I agree though... the androgynous looker is safer for many reasons.

@lea-jhene I do the same thing with making my feet / shoes disappear - obfuscation. Doing so only goes so far, though. Watching someone approach me on a sidewalk, a few days ago, the second thing that she looked at were my feet.

However, we all have our own limitations or restrictions when it comes to dressing in public. I do what I can to push my limits, though.

Hi, Lea.

You're at the height of fashion then, cos the shops are full of point toe, slingback kitten heels. I recently got a pair in red but, like Caroline @caroline2k, I find them more difficult to walk in than my other shoes. Even with the strap tight, my heel slips from side to side. That won't stop me wearing them in the house though 😊.

@lea-jhene I love kitten heels too, especially slingbacks.   They are so comfortable and still sexy.   I love mine with a nice flowy chiffon dress.

@lea-jhene - oh, absolutely. So perfect in many respects. My current favourites are printed python pattern slingbacks with pointy toes paired with nude knee-highs and slim-fit faux-leatner trousers. Both sexy and walkable.

I have several pairs of kitten heels because:

a) I am 6 feet tall without shoes

b) I haven't developed the ankle muscles to wear higher heels

c) I am old, and have enough ways to fall down as it is.

I wear mostly kitten heels any more, especially if wearing them for several hours at a time. Not a great deal of style choices but I feel less clumsy and more comfortable on these old feet.  Currently have white and black pumps along with sandals and a pair of sling backs in black.  i finally found a brand that is reasonably priced in my larger size that fit me well.  I've been thru so many pairs of poorly fitting heels that end up going to the donation bin I now stick with what will be more likely to fit than not.  My latest quest is to find strappy sandals in larger sizes.

I have a pair of 3" heels (a little under really) as that's the highest I can walk in and not look like Bambi on ice. Most of the time, certainly so far this winter, I am wearing boots with no raised heel. When the warmer weather comes, I tend to wear stylish trainers when out and about—they look ok with my calf-length skirts and they are certainly easy to walk in for a long time.

I love the idea of high heels, but then I love the idea of para-gliding and rally driving, and I'm not going to do either of those, either.

I think they are extremely cute and as I get older I am moving to shorter heels. I currently on have a few under 3 inches

Yes, I have several pairs of shoes with kitten heels, but I find a two inch block heel to be easier to wear.  I injured my right ankle years ago and the tiny kitten heels are harder to balance while walking. The two inch block heel is more stable for wearing all day long.

I love my sling back kitten heels. I have several pairs. They look great with jeans or dresses. I found a few at Nordstrom Rack that were reasonably priced.

I'm in the process of getting my first pair of kitten heels. I think they are so cute and will be easier to walk in. I have some 4" block heels that are hard to walk in that will be getting donated along with a pair of 3" pumps that are too big. I do need to get to teh shoe store soon.

XOXO

I try to "open up" the house and not live behind pulled curtains.  Kitten heels allow me to wear nylons either with slacks or warm-weather shorts and when walking about inside I can avoid that obvious "high-heel strut" if the neighbors happen to glance over.

Hi Lea...   I love kitten heels as well.  My first pair of heeled sandals was a 2 inch kitten heel thong.  When I showed them to wife she thought I had gone nuts, then she got herself a pair!!  So fashionable and fun to wear.

BTW, what part of CA are you in?  Happy New Year,  Staci in SoCal...

@sf Wow, I like how you influenced your wife's fashion. Low heel thongs were quite popular, and still are.

I've noticed Asian and South Asian women wear them frequently with dressed up outfits - there's a practical side too when needing to take off shoes easily at religious temples or when entering someone's home.

I am on top of the world today. Found a cute pair of sling back kitten heels, stiletto, pointed toe, on clearance, in my size, very cute, and they feel so good to wear. A small Galentines gift to myself.
