My Instagram feed keeps popping up Louboutin "So Kate" heels, the iconic pointed toe stiletto pump with the red bottoms.

That's my guy Instagram account, so it feels good seeing that recognition of my fem side. I'm ignoring how they know that and all the suspicious data sharing that let them know that.

Back on point (pun).

My feed shows videos of celebrities, but also random people doing things like running on a treadmill in them, or sprinting down the street, and just trying them on in a store. It's a crazy fad to make videos.

Are any of you ladies lucky enough to have a pair? How are they for feel and comfort? Do they give you the amazing experience they advertise?

I see they even have them in Size 12!! Way out of my price range, beautiful to look at.

@lea-jhene Not got to shoes yet, tbh. And high heels for driving? Not a good idea 😔

@valentina16 Yes, heels and driving are dangerous. Not to mention that heels tear up the car mats. And of course heels get scuffed up, especially the back.

I agree with some Instagram videos where women ask if anyone else is like them and puts on their heels when they exit the car. Smart idea.

Christian Louboutin says it himself- beauty is pain and he doesn’t design heels for comfort.

Why would I spend $900 to torture my feet when a pair of $150 Edelman's does the same and looks just as good?

@lizk Christian Louboutin: I just looked at their web site. Not a lot there that interests me and, unfortunately, their Mary Janes are made with patent leather. That would draw too much attention. But at C$1300, they still lost a sale.

The most that I ever paid for a pair of brand name heels was about C$350 (times three…don't ask) for some Stewart Weitzman 3" pumps. Beautiful, versatile colour. While comfortable, I quickly learned that I have nowhere to wear them, except at home. What a waste.

@lizk  I wear heels all the time, even my slippers are those 3" fuzzy style.  My favorites are 4" stilettos, I can walk around in them all day, occasionally I'll go out in 5" depending on the length of my outfit, sometimes 6" but normally just as those play time things, I still have a few center of gravity issues with them, but I'm getting over it.  I find that it doesn't take an expensive pair of heels to be comfortable, just getting the right size, and these little things i got from Amazon that stick in the shoe just in front of the ball of the foot which help keep your foot from sliding forward.  Also, as men, we're taught to walk with stiff hips, after all, boys can't swish, but the higher the heel, the more you have to loosen up the hips and allow them to sway.  I'm so accustomed to heels that I feel strange without them, I call it the Barbie foot.  Sometimes, stilettos just aren't functional though, like decks, stone or soft surfaces, so I also keep some block and wedge heels for those times. It just takes practice, practice, and consistency to develop the legs, ankles, straight posture, shoulders back, to wear heels for long periods.  I've also found that a slightly snug knee length boot will help give that ankle support and heel positioning training that allows you to learn that wonderful female hip sway one foot in front of the other walk.   Probably one of the most common compliments I get, along with my nails or earrings, is from women who are amazed at how I can walk around in stilettos, it seems that now days most women have never worn them, or won't wear them, which is a shame since men love them too.  I love them, I think there's something uniquely feminine about them, the way they shape your legs and butt, that statuesque stance, and that click, click, click as you walk, oh classic.  And it doesn't have to take a fortune to buy them.

Hugs,

Jennifer

@jenniferr 😔 I’m finding my sedentary work life is making it increasingly difficult to walk even plain ‘man’ shoes 😒

Hi, Lea.

The comfiest shoes I've ever bought were rounded toe, kitten heel (2") slingbacks by Evans. I got them in a charity shop for £10. The uppers were a cushioned fabric in red, hardly felt them on my feet and walking in them was a breeze. They went in my final purge 10 or more years ago 🙄.

What have I said about purging! Waste of lovely things, money and time.

As for Louboutin and all the other vastly overpriced "names", I won't encourage them by forking out my easily earned cash.

@alexina i felt joy reading the beginning of your reply. And a tear when you mentioned they were purged.Thank you for sharing both that wonderful experience of comfort and that important lesson about nor purging.

I have a pair of 2 inch wedges which are absolutely comfortable, and a 4 inch strappy block heel that is just bliss to wear for hours.

Yet I have countless stilettos and can't resist buying even more. Beauty in my mind, a dream, I guess.

@lea-jhene I've wanted a pair for so long and came close to taking the plunge a few times.  Now, my days of stilettos are pretty much over so I'm going to stick to shoes with heels under 4 inches high.   I'm all about the practicality and being able to get through a full night in my heels now.

@lauren114 I know what you mean. I love wearing stilettos at home. I don't think I could balance out in public. And my body reminds me periodically that I'm not as young as my girl side feels.

@lea-jhene Hi Lea, I have a few pairs of high end heels that I own.  I don’t have the particular pair of so Kate’s, but I do have a pair of Christian Louboutin fetish peep 130mm. My wife bought them for me for my birthday 2 years ago.  So comfort wise, they are decent for such a high heel( I have many heels around the 4-5” range), but they do run small so definitely maybe try them on in person if possible if you’re thinking of getting a pair. I usually wear size 9 and a 41eu fits me perfect.  Absolutely perfect for photo shoots or pics, but I wouldn’t wear them on a lengthy outing.  With the right outfit, they make you feel amazing.

@saramarshall Thank you for sharing. It's very helpful to know. Sounds like the experience or feeling makes it worthwhile to buy more expensive shoes.

Wow Lea, that’s a crazy heel. I don’t have any Louboutin but couldn’t get those even if I could afford them. No way I could walk in them despite what those treadmill runner videos say! If I ever did splurge it would be on their Condoroline slingback pumps. So elegant and actually seem comfortable.

@lea-jhene@lauren114 and @lizk  yes, yes, & yes!!!

Pointed toe slingback with kitten heel were my obsession for the last few weeks and I JUST got a pair of Sam Edelman Bianca Slingback's with just a 2.25" heel. they're black suede and I put them on for the first time yesterday and was amazed how comfortable they were right out of the box. Size 12 fit me great (could probably have gone down a half size). Zappos has them up to 14. Was just walking around the house for an hour in total drab + heels cause I almost forgot I was wearing them. $150 so they're far from inexpensive but I could honestly see this being the only pair of shoes I wear for a while and they'll last forever (never to be purged!!)

Wow 😮 them are insanely priced at them cost I would leave them in the box or maybe put them in my China cabinet I thought 150 was bad for a pair I bought

no need to pay alot for shoes. you don't need to spend a million dollars to look good. the most i ever spent on shoes was $100 for white knee-high boots with 4" stiletto heels. gold chain around the heal and silver studs on the toe. anyway they were to small. i ordered another pair next size up, they didn't fit either. got them from eBay. $30 to ship them back. end of buying shoes online. most of my shoes are under $40. i get alot of complements on them.

I love heels! They have always been a part of me, but unfortunately they had to go away a dozen years ago when I had to have foot surgery and can no longer wear anything about 2".

As for the Louboutin's, they are so pretty, but so expensive. Personally I would never spend that much on shoes. I don't think I've ever spent more than $100 on a single pair. There are so many more things I could purchase with the extra money, like another wig, more lingerie, a dress or skirt set and so on.

Maybe I'm just too practical (not cheap) LOL.

I have three pairs, but just the Kate's which are about 4 inches. Definately go and get fitted. Tge right size matters with CL's. I have nude, patent black and black. Love them! The So Kate's I tried it wasnt the heel height but the arch that didnt feel good. But again the Kate's felt perfect.
