Anyone in Denver or Colorado Springs interested in doing my makeup? Will pay for the service.

Jamie - another option is any Sephora or Ulta salon. They're trans friendly and their staff are trained to work with gals like us.

Thank you for the option. How should I dress to go to a salon? I guess it might be a good idea to call ahead and get a feel how they would handle me coming in.

Jamie,
that's the idea. There are ladies here who went dressed and a few in drab as well. If you scroll down the forum posts under cross dressing success stories you should be able to find a few of them. Very inspiring

Calling ahead is a good idea but you shouldn't be too concerned about the staff. They see trans folks often enough. You're more likely to get a negative reaction from a conservative customer. Knowing the area will help with that. As for dress, wear what you're comfortable in. If you'll be a nervous wreck dressed, go in drab. If anyone asks you can say you're going to a costume party, or you're an actor prepping for a part. Or you can be open about it. Most people are curious but don't give a damn. The main thing is to get out there. Having a lesson or a makeover is a great confidence booster.

Do a search for a gal named Hannah McKnight. She writes an excellent blog about living part time in Minneapolis. She frequently talks about passing and presenting publicly en femme. She goes everywhere and rarely gets a negative reaction. And she's learned how to handle them when they happen. I consider her a role model.

Keep us posted how it goes.

Namaste, Emily
