Being A child of the 50's I have many memories of seeing and wearing those wonderful lacey silky slips. It was always A treat to get A glimpse of A little lace showing from under A skirt, but even better when I had my own slips to wear. It's A shame that so many girls no longer wear them, I love wearing my bra and panties under A pretty dress but adding A lacey satin slip makes things feel even better. I still own many beautiful full and half slips as well as some poofey petticoats, the few slips to be found today are no longer like the ones we had in the 50's and 60's. Any one else have and enjoy these precious memories?

i too am a lover of lacy slips, both full & waist. It seems that they are going out of fashion here in the UK as well which is such a shame. Fortunately I have accumulated quite a few over the years! You can still find some lovely feminine vintage ones on eBay - thank goodness!

Ma didn’t have a washer dryer combo, she had a wringer washer, soapstone sink and a clothes line. Dad strung numerous clotheslines across the kitchen so clothes could dry during winter and rainy days. It was the only room with heat, the big kitchen stove. Ma’s and my older sister’s “silkies,” were there, you ducked under them. I always snuck a feel of them. The first article of femme clothing I put on was my mother’s white half slip. OMG!! It made my loins tingle.😂 Love slips, have both half, and full.
Hi Sarasue, I havn't any slips at the moment, as Gilly says she seem to have gone out of fashion in the UK, but I have some lovely memories of wearing them. I had a lovely brown slip with cream lace at the bust and hem and a lovely white one. My favourite was a ruched half slip. Liz.
When I was 14 I first started dressing, I would wear one of my mom's slips. It was red and lacy. If was one of my favorite things to wear.
Excuse me, your slip is showing...said very quietly, and an oh so thrilling privilege to say...and see. But you could only make the comment to the right person...definitely not a much older lady, and never to the teenager you had a crush on...well, maybe to that last one, but only very, very carefully.
I love slips and their silky feel, and how they make my dress slip and slide around me oh so sexily...And how sexy we all look in them...

I was nine when I couldn’t resist any longer. That half slip was haunting me. I was deathly afraid of leaving any trace of me, on the slip. It just felt so damn good when I pulled it up my skinny legs. What a rush.😘
I love nylon full and half slips as much as I love silky material panties. Those items combined with a dress is what I always wore when I started playing "dress-up" at age 9.

You are Right. The feel of a silky slip is very nice and I do enjoy wearing one under my dresses. As you say finding what was available in the 50’s or 60’s isn’t a simple undertaking.

I made it to 12 years old.
Loved, loved, loved silky slips, and got a buzz seeing the white lace edges. I wouldn't tell anyone their slip was showing in case I lost my view, lol!
Then I read some Milly Molly Mandy stories at my grandparents. There wasn't much else, but I was hooked by the tales of the little girl in the pink striped dress.
One morning, she got up early, and went to wash in her petticoat.
Oooh! Petticoat.
I just had to wear one - then, as if by chance, my grandmother gave a half slip to my sister.
That night, I couldn't stop myself. I borrowed it, and if anything, it felt better than I ever imagined.
I have a nice range, mostly of half slips.
I'm going to need them this weekend!
