When my wife is away, I buy a set of glue on, ready painted nails. I love wearing them. I love the way they look and I love to tap them on stuf....
My wife is dead against me having false nails, but I'm not sure if its just nails, or coloured nails. I wonder if she would be OK with me having natural coloured nails. TBH I'm afraid to ask 🙂
So, say we assume it's coloured nails she against (she painted my nails once and it seriously freaked her out), but she's OK with natural coloured false nails....
If I had nails done in a salon, so that they don't ping off, would my nails grow under them to a length where where the false nails were removed, I'd have naturally long nails under them?
I have tried growing my nails, but they get to a seriously annoying length, between bitten down to the quick and just about sticking out.... I then end up biting them or cutting them. With false nails, I don't have the annoying length time to contend with.
So if I have nails done properly, I'm assuming they can be removed. If I leave them on long enough, could I grow nails under them? I appreciate that the false nails will "grow" as well. I feel that any natural nails I grow will need protecting from me and my clippers.
Any help and/or advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
Cerys.
I don't know much about nails from a salon. I have grown my nails out a couple of times and after a few weeks they break here and there. I haven't given up on naturally long nails but right now I prefer the press on nails.
As to the color issue. It could be seeing your nails with color on them may upset her. Try natural press on nails and see what she says.

If you get the false salon acrylic nails, yes, your nails will grow under, but once the acrylics come off you will have thin and weak nails and a half moon shape that shows where the new growth is. Ultimately, it slows the growth down more because then you have to wait for the half moon shape to grow out. At least, this is my experience with acrylics. There may be a better alternative. Gel polish might help you with strength and length if that's what you're after and you could do a clear coat or something fun.
Hi Cerys,
Think of growing your own nails out as a healthy mental challenge. Just that. If they get to an 'annoying' length, clip them rather than bite them. Use a clear hardener - gloss if your wife is ok with it, matte otherwise. If one breaks or splits, so be it. Tidy it up, and do not take it out on the other nails.
It's doubtful (?!) they'll ever be perfectly presented, so you may need to resort to professional services when you're on the catwalk and such like.

I only bite them at the admitting length. When I put false nails on, they are beyond that length so I don't bite them. This is why in thinking of having salon nails, to give my real nails chance to grow under them.
In order for artificial nails to adhere to yours, they’re first scuffed to accept a bonding agent ( super glue is almost identical) . When they are removed they take away even more of your natural nail, leaving them thin and paper like. Most people keep them cut very short until complete new nail has grown ( about 3 months).
im not sure that’s the solution to your challenge 🤷🏼♀️
