I can’t wear nail polish where I work. I bought some clear today. Will clear polish protect my nails at all? They split and peel a lot. Sorry if this sounds dumb.

Thank you. I would have never thought of a matte finish. I used to paint cars. Never liked doing the matte finish on anything. I also sprayed a ton on house doors. Had one friend that always made me spray his colors matte. Matte would be great on nails. Thank you so much. I am sure that there is no health problem. I work with chemicals and not very safely.

High Octavia

i can't wear polish at work, but I sometimes wear Rimmels " nail base and top coat"...it's not matte, which would be perfect, but it's great, and yes,  I did have one comment...the answer?...my nails keep splitting so it's to protect them....nobody had ever said anything since!!!

Well I wear a clear base coat which has hardener in it. It seems to help.

My nails have improved since adding a multivitamin and protein shake to my diet. Toenails are always polished. I cannot have polish on my finger nails at work. Clear matte finish is not expensive. I have some just in case.

I use clear from Essie in their Treat Love and Color line, it seems to help with my usual chips and splits.

Hi Octavia. I find you can wear any clear polish, even if it's glossy. After it dries to a hard finish, just go over it lightly, with a nail buffer, which removes the shine. Also, I add a spoon of gelatine to my morning smoothie, which I find helps my nails.
