@erinb

Well Erica,

You have answered 2 of your questions. Washing,and using regular shampoo. Also using conditioner.

Following the wig makers care instructions too.

When washing use your fingers to gently untangle the hair. By placing the wig upside down and after untangling, wet and shampoo, rinse condition, rinse again

When combing, or brushing. Start at the middle and comb or brush down. Then you can comb or brush from the top down.

To dry I use a plastic wig stand and leave it in the bathtub. If the wig is long illness put it on a higher surface so the hair isn't touching anything.

Careful if you use a dryer. Low heat and avoid damaging the wig.

A wig brush is also recommended. If you have a Sally's beauty supply or equivalent you can buy one there.

Happy Hair to you!

Fran 🥰

Hi Erin,

A great friend of mine takes her wigs to her hairdresser.  She hasn’t been disappointed yet.

@erinb I’m sure you could visit in drab mode and discuss what you want.  So many options so tell the associate you need to think things over.

@erinb I think you’ll be surprised how helpful the shop will be.  They’re in business to sell wigs so will bend over backwards to help you find the best product that meets your needs and budget.  Just think how much fun Erin is  going to have.

@erinb Hey Erin,

With it being Halloween you have a terrific excuse.  Or you could say the office is having a party/celebration and it’s come as the opposite sex.  You’re just being your true self so grab your butterfly net and round up the butterflies.

Lots of videos on YouTube that are very detailed on how to go about washing both human hair or synthetic wigs. I hope that helps!

When I bought mine it was recommended to wash it as I would my hair. That is using the same shampoo. Fill a bowl with warm water and some shampoo, gently massage the wig so the shampoo cleans the entire wig and let it soak for 15 minutes. After that drain and rinse the wig under warm water till the water runs clear. Then fill again and add conditioner, massage, soak and rinse as before.

When done, gently squeeze to remove excess water, place on a towel and blot dry then hang to air dry. No blow dryer or combing/brushing until it is fully air dried. I've done that and mine is still like new 15 years later.

The best way to keep it odor free is to stop smoking. Your wig and lungs will thank you for it.👍🏻🫁
