Hi girls,

I hope you are doing well and staying safe.

Well, this morning I leapt out of bed very excited to try my new hold ups that arrived yesterday.  They are my first pair and I agonised a fair bit over which ones to get having read many many reviews saying they dont hold up so having finally found a pair that had no such review, I ordered.

I laid out my white strappy top with a blue denim midi skirt (experiment day today) and put on my bra and panties and then the hold ups.  Holy moly, they feel amazing and so much silkier than my tights.  I then find they don’t come quite as high as I’d hoped, barely getting over my knee but OK I could live with that for now.  Put on the rest of the outfit and go to walk around the house donning a big smile and don’t even make it out of the bedroom before they’re round my ankles.  EPIC FAIL!!  I’ve tried pulling them a bit tighter and adjusting but they just slip the moment I move.

I did check the size guide several times.  I’m 5ft 8 so fell bang in the middle of the 5’7 - 5’9 range of the ‘L’  size but I’ve put this down to experience (or lack thereof) and will adjust for my next order.  Yes, I probably should go for a suspender belt but I do like the look of hold ups.

Maybe I need to expand my shopping options beyond Amazon and M&S giggles.

Hope you don’t mind, I just wanted to share my journey with all you lovely people

Love Rachel.

Hi Rachel, I like wearing hold ups but I've found that cheaper pairs do fall down some times. I think the best pairs are ones with deep tops, there seems to be more grip on your legs from them. M &S do some really nice hold ups but they are a bit expensive. The ones with lace tops are pretty and sexy as well! Emma.

If the top is made with rubber it will stretch.

You should check to see if the top is silicone.  That works much better.

There is also a Thigh High Stay Up Glue.

Google search thigh high stay up glue.

I have had success with a glue called "It Stays". it's a water based body glue designed to hold fabrics to your skin. It's no good for sticking forms on but hold ups do stay put.

Hi Rachel,

Since you're in the UK, it might be worth your while checking out StockingsHQ, they have lots of options in makes, sizes and prices.  Personally, I like the Nylonica range - they feel great, stay up and last well plus they make them long enough for me (34" inside leg).
I also think that there is a touch of you get what you pay for with hold ups etc - the slightly more expensive ones tend to feel, look and last better in my experience.

I have had similiar problems in the past so for that reason I wear pantyhose or a garter belt for that security reason. I would recommend therefore using a garter belt with straps to hold them securely.

Hi Rachel
I find hold ups are fine and so much easier to put on than tights. Try Bellivialini see https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07K7R5T9D?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_asin_title they have a really useful size chart.

Rachel,

I always call hold ups no-hold ups.

Trouble is if there is any hair left, slight perspiration or the contour of the leg where the sticky part is is wrong, down they go. All kinds of tricks to help, but in the end after too many stockings dropped down under a skirt I went for stockings and suspenders and never looked back.

I'm a stockings and suspender girl. I love hold-ups but have found some just don't want to 'hold-up'. So I use a suspender belt usually with my hold-ups. Also my last pair just did not sit as high on my leg as I would like so I'm going to buy a size larger then recommended by the packaging next time. Ohhhhhhh...but I do so love the Feeling when wearing a lovely silky pair of nylons or hold-ups.

Think I'll be going stockings and suspender belt shopping!

Thank you for the store suggestions.  I'm going to check them out and see what I can get.

Any excuse to go shopping, eh? 🙂

Love Rachel

Hi. Rachael. I am a full cross dresser wear holdups all the time. If you want some good  ones without paying a fortune, try Tesco. They are full length, come in tan and black, various sizes, and a pack of two cost £4. They are great and they do hold up. Sometimes I occasionally wear lace top stockings, but I wear a suspenders belt with those. I have never worn tights. I am a bit old school when it comes to leg covering and tights are out for me. Hope this info helps.  Love 💗 Michaela xx

I love garter belt/ Lace top stockings, but I find it difficult to keep the garter belt in place.  Which is why I typicality wear lace top thigh highs. Biggest problem is finding them long enough.

I've worn hold ups that go right up to crotch level with what I call my "parachute skirt"....a full ankle length in inda cotton.
I wear a sturdy thong to keep my junk home and a little crynoline to give me hips. Waiting for those summer breezes to repeat the experience. Yummy!

Those are my favorite thigh high stockings...I have found that the City Beige really holds up well but the black has the weakest band. They do last and I get many wearing's out of them. Plus they don't run easily.
