Great article today, "The Boys in Their Summer Dresses". We are mainstreaming!
Nice story by the nytimes. Gender fluidity is leading to far more acceptance of people who don’t fit the norm. Clothing is slowing losing its hold on gender identity. People should wear what they want and be who they want. It’s refreshing to see that times are a changing.

I read that too! Great article. Leaves me feeling hopeful about the direction the next generation is heading.
Yes, seen some guys in skirt/dress in many main stream places (was going to ask about Lil Nas on SNL).
At some point I wasn't expecting any kind of acceptance to happen in my life time but now I start to have hope to at the very least see the rise of it.

I can't wait to add that to a group that I'm helped start at work....

I agree this is a welcome article - so encouraging to see this increasing questioning of traditional norms regarding the association between gender and clothing. While providing us some hope for greater acceptance, I think this is only to a limited degree. And by us, I mean most of the membership here at CDH.
Are the men in this article cross dressers? I would say so. But they are very clearly men in women's clothing and not attempting to pass as women. As in no padding, no fake boobs, no makeup, no wigs. And that is a crucial difference. Maybe not so much among our community, but it remains the sticking point for society as a whole.
To me, this is a perfect illustration of the "it's just clothes" argument for why our cross dressing should be viewed by others as no big deal. Nope, it's not just clothes, it's all of the many other things that we do in an effort to present as women.
Again, I do believe this article is a welcome step in the right direction. But until the NY Times or some other high-profile media outlet publishes a similar article on the joys of men going "all the way" in their cross dressing, I'd say it's really just a baby step.
And of course, it opens up the whole other debate surrounding the question of "who really is a cross dresser?" Clearly there are different degrees, right? Maybe we need to adopt a new term for ourselves? I've always liked "femulators" which to me encapsulates not only the clothes but also the desire the emulate the feminine to the fullest extent possible.
Disclaimer: not looking for an argument with all of this - remember it's just one girl's opinion. Other opinions and observations most welcome.
