Good morning and happy New Years Eve,

So my question is this, I only dress 2 days a week right now, and have no intentions of a public showing anytime soon because of where I live. So is it better to just go simple with a padded bra, should I really invest in forms? Kinda confused about this process

@closetcelt There is more than one way to think about creating breast shapes and cleavage.

Firstly, my preference is to create the hourglass shape that many females have (chest, hip, butt pads, plus corsets). I have seen CDs with no bosom wearing dresses. Meh, not my thing.

If you have a low-cut top, then you can use body tape to create the look of cleavage. Make-up can enhance that look. Silicone push-up pads or other small fillers (not breast forms) can help fill in a push-up bra. To me, this seems like a good compromise between being flat-chested and using breast forms.

My experience shows that bigger pads should not be used with a push-up bra. Chances are that your padding will fall out of the cups, unless you learn how to keep everything where it should be.

There are degrees or stages of getting breast forms. Cheaper ones allow you to experiment more, especially in size, shape and weight. While big forms are fun, they may be too big for your current clothes. Various smaller sizes let you figure out what you like or need or by letting you know what works.

Getting properly designed bras help you to control where the forms should stay. Front closure bras seem to always come apart, for example. Low-cut cups and sports bras have very little control. Well defined bras do keep the forms in proper cups. Full coverage bras are safer, but they don't have to be obvious under your tops.

I would encourage you to experiment, to discover what you like or need. You don't have to start off with the most expensive forms when cheaper ones give you more options and choices while you figure things out.

Start the year off by learning something new and by having fun while doing it. 😘

@closetcelt; Aine, just because you have limited days to dress in private at home; doesn't mean that you can't experience wearing breastforms. It comes down to your personal choice and maybe budget.

Do you want to know what it's like to wear breastforms? Foam forms are the cheapest $15-45/set to near $900/set for silicone forms.

If you don't want to invest in breastforms; a padded bra will "hold-up" just fine. I used padded push-up bras for three years, some time in private at home and some time in public, before I got my first silicone forms. However, that first set of forms made a huge difference in my bust area; as I now use both padded push-up bra and silicone forms together.

@closetcelt It depends what you want. If you just want the look a padded bra may do it. If you want the entire experience, feeling the weight and movement then forms are definitely the right choice.

Long ago I tried everything in my bra. An old stocking with birdsee, a sock with coins, water balloons (what a disaster). Then I broke down and bought my first set of forms and it was like being struck my lightening. Why didn't I do this sooner.

You can find inexpensive forms on Amazon and Ebay. I shop Ebay as I prefer Amoena forms. They are German made mastectomy forms of excellent quality. I searched their site, read all about them for sizing and so on and learned what I needed to buy the size best for me. Then I went to Ebay. I get a pair for under $100 when at retail they are over $600. I don't know your budget, but even if you can't afford that I would really suggest forms as an investment. You can't go wrong.

@closetcelt thanks for starting this thread. just the right post at the right time for me! have never worm forms or a padded bra but recently have been wanting a little something more. I'm slim so just enough to credibly be a small breasted female is what I'm looking for.

I was thinking of starting with inserts - for those who have experience with those would something like "Boomba" work in the right bra? they have a handful of options so not sure where to start or if that's barking up the wrong tree entirely!

I started with a padded bra, then added small chicken fillets, before investing in forms. I find the weight and shape of them reassuring. Hugs, Anna xx

I wouldn't invest informs now.

What you are looking for in forms such as shape, size etc. may change over time.

Anna has a great idea, bra with fillers.

This will also give you an idea of bra style and brand works for you.

My thought on this is not to buy breast forms at this stage, if you ant to feel some weight in the bra I suggest cutting the feet off an old pair of tights (pantyhose) filling them with bird seed to the size to fill your bra and simply tie a knot the open end. It works best with full cup bras and will give you the shape and weight. One advantage of this method is if you decide to change the cup size of your bra you can adjust the amount of seed in the pantyhose feet to suit.

I have forms that I almost never use because of wardrobe. Nothing beats the look of taping and padding when I wear a lower cut top or show cleavage. I like my forms though if I am wearing something with a crewneck or the like. Then I can just add the forms, and they look great.

I vote for forms if you have the spare cash. I love to have forms and wear them around the house often, so they are nice to have even if you go out.

The amount one can spend on forms is pretty wide ranging. It is easy enough to buy inexpensive forms online, or high end ones as well.

There's a lot of great advice from everyone, but then this is the best place to get the help we need. For me it has been a bit of trial and error, I tried a lot of different things such as cutting some foam rubber circles and it filled my bras out great but you don't get the feel and weight you do from forms. And yes it's great to buy the less expensive forms to figure out what's best for you. I have tried the tear drop and triangle forms, for me I prefer the triangle forms.

Hon,

Since you and your SO are fairly new to having you crossdressing, but your SO is somewhat accepting, I encourage you to get silicone forms.  Better check SO's bra size.  Why?  Whatever cup size she wears, you might be smart to get the next size smaller.  Like, if she's 34D, and you are a 38-size chest/sport coat, you'd have to stay with C-cup probably.  Amazon has nice Vollence C-cup 800g forms for about $35USD that for me I even sleep with them in an underwire bra.

Since your profile says you've just started, then be sure to learn about cup sizing, and how bra manufacturers use the same identical sewn cup and attach it to different bands.  So might be a 34D has the identical cup as 36C or 38B etc. as I understand it.

Yeah... hmm if she's a 38A then skip that part!

anyway, if you get the right forms, then walk out into the living room, and she determines her chest is bigger than yours, you never know, that alone might put a solid smile of approval on her face.  Your profile pic looks pretty, so if you have that makeup skill, wow you go for it dear.  I would love so much to read later that your good looks have overwhelmed the SO into complete acceptance and encouragement.

Affectionately,

Dani

Wearing breast forms is a wonderful feeling, much better than the homemade do it yourself alternatives. You can get inexpensive Vollence forms on Amazon. If you are thin, get teardrop shapes, if you are heavy, get triangle shapes. Don't go for humongous DD's, stick to B or C cup to start. And don't sleep in them, the silicon gel forms will leak at the seams eventually. For sleeping, you need solid gel forms which are more expensive.

I can't speak to padded bras, as I haven't worn any, but I've worn breastforms before and they are amazing. They can get reaaaaaally expensive, and they can be very trial and error so probably not the best way to start unless you are financially comfortable.

Now, the reason why I went right off-the-bat with breastforms is because I wanted something I could wear without a bra, and that I could fit into different kinds of clothes - like bikinis, for example. A really neat thing about the ones I currently enjoy is that they are sticky and so when they bounce they feel like they're part of my body instead of something that I'm wearing, and it's such a nice feeling. Especially because it gives me a sense of confidence that they're not going to slide around or anything if I move too fast, you know? Like I could go for a jog and they would stay right where they are.

Anyways, all of this is to say that you should consider two things: your budget and your use case.

For example, if your budget allows for a nice pair of forms, but you're just dressing up a little bit and hanging out at home, then padded bras are probably your best bet. But if you're going to be trying on a lot of different outfits, where a padded bra might not be suitable, then breastforms might just be worth the investment!

I've tried taping my chest wall to create cleavage but I don't have alot of loose tissue there. Silicone forms can be attached with an adhesive and they are great to use when you're wearing a backless dress, but you can't show cleavage - I have tried but haven't found any way to mask the interface between the form and my skin. A chest form allows you to show cleavage but you have to hide the edges of the form, with a choker necklace and either the sleeves of a dress or long hair

Thank you all for your insight, opinions, and personal experiences. After reading all of your responses, I have decided to start out small and cheap and experiment with padded bras. I feel this will help me get used to operating with a larger chest, and then I can move towards forms in the future.

I am a very slim lady, 5'9 and about 110lbs, so my target cup size is a modest B. A is just a little to small and C would just look so weird on my body type.

Thank you all again for help with this topic
