Ladies, I think the one thing that probably sets apart the almost full time girls and the part timers is whether you have your ears pierced. Now I know that these days the prevalence of men with both ears pierced is on the increase, but how many of you have your ears pierced?
I know for myself, a part timer, the sign that I take the next step is if I get my ears pierced. Even shaving is recoverable, but pierced ears is way more permanent.
What about you? Have you taken that next step?
I got mine pierced earlier this year. Wish I'd done it sooner. The usual excuses why I shouldn't never happened. If anything it was a non-event. The few comments I got were positive....from women that know me. TBH the biggest concern has been making sure they heal properly. The first 3 months require diligent care and gentle handling.

I got my first ear piercings around 1988 when I started going out dressed a lot. I got a second hole in my left ear in the late 90’s when I was playing guitar in a metal band. I finally got a second piercing in my right ear in 2020 so everything is balanced again.
Now I wear 1” gold hoops in the front holes, and diamond studs in the rear. This is my everyday look en femme or en drab. When I’m going out dressed, I switch out the hoops for larger hoops or something dangly. The studs never come out except for cleaning. Gotta keep ‘em sparkly!
One big pro - with pierced ears you have a huge selection of different earrings. Which leads to one small con - I spend too much money on earrings!
I got my ears pierced just over a year ago. I can't say I am sorry I waited, I had a number of reasons. I was a regular blood donor, and they had a deferral period of a year after a piercing. I couldn't see not donating for a year for getting my ears pierced because of the potential to save lives, especially when I was not out en femme often enough (I estimated it was less than 3% of the time, and some of that is isolated in a car traveling).
Two things happened that made me decide to go for it. One, the deferral period was lowered from a year to 3 months. This meant I would only be missing a single donation. Two, my blood iron was consistently too low, meaning I couldn't donate anyway.
I'm still wearing the starter earrings, mainly because they are difficult to put on by myself (even with help, my daughter has difficulties). If I can get backings that don't stick through the ears to the front yet fit the earrings, then I will wear feminine earrings once in a while. I had the starters out a few times and was able to put in earrings myself, just not put the starters back in without help. With the backings sticking through the ear, I have to find the hole in the backing which is "floating" above my ear, without being able to see or feel where hole is. When putting on other earrings, I can feel where the post is on my ear, and I know approximately where the hole is, and I can find the hole and push the backing through the ear by myself.
Current life position prevents me from piercing, but I do want them. Maybe some day.
Toodles!
I want but my otherwise supportive wife says no
I got my ears pierced a couple of years after "Careless Whisper" was released :-). I was young, wanted to be cool, so got both of them pierced not knowing that decades later I would be wearing earrings for a very different reason. Boy, oh, boy do I enjoy feeling the weight of heavy earrings on my lobes!
I decided to get my ears pierced last August. All went well, and no issues. Waited eight weeks before I changed them & was careful with using the healing solution three times a day.
Jaynee is right, opens up a huge selection that you can spend your money on, Lol. Ask me how I know..

Our daughter's boyfriend has his ears pierced and now has loops in the holes. We will see them for Christmas, so maybe I can use that as a conversation starter.
I've considered it. I feel like, for me, mostly the added value is minimal. I have clip-on adjusters so any pair of pierced-ear earrings can be worn. Having them pierced would really just require me to explain it to my closest inner circle people - mother, brother-in-law, etc. People who...don't need to know about Melodee.
Since the upside is minimal, right now I don't see the need. But that's just for me. 🙂
I am thinking of getting mine pierced in a month or so.
I pierced mine almost a year ago. I can see people notice them when talking face to face, but not one person has said anything about them. And the people that I know have not treated me any different. Strangers are always in a hurry to go wherever they are going to notice or care. And the ones that do notice them, well, I don't know what they think, but it doesn't matter to me.
I always wanted my ears pierced, but my wife wasn't keen, so I parked the idea.
One Saturday morning, we were lying in bed and she asked me what I gained doing that day. I tried that I had no real plans and that I was happy to do whatever she wanted. She replied "I thought we'd go into town and get your ears pierced"
This came as a total shock. I haven't asked, nor prompted in any way
We went into a place that uses a clamp and needle rather than a gun. I booked in, but had a three hour wait. We went shopping and grabbed dinner lunch. I was seriously nervous, and I mean seriously!
The time came, and we went back to the shop.
My name was called and I went in
Getting my ears pierced was one of the best things I have ever done! I absolutely love it! It's been well over a year and I still get a buzz when I put them in. Sometimes just studs, sometimes really large danglers. I live then all!
Get them done! Seriously you won't regret it. No more hunting around for clip ons!

I've had mine pierced for almost two years. My favorite type of earrings are one and two inch gold hoops. Hoop style earrings are a timeless classic, they look wonderful on everybody, you can wear them casual or dressy and to me hoops are just the ultimate sexy earring!

My feelings on this matter are similar like yours Lacy. In my female persona i always wear earrings, like them quite a bit and would love to be able to avail myself of the pretty ones I see for persons with pierced ears. However, altho earrings are common among men now I do not wish to wear earrings, and i would need to in order to preserve the opening that accommodates the earring. So until I warm to the idea of wearing earrings as my male self or go 24/7 CD, I'll be doing the clip ons.
