I've made an appointment to have my ears pierced.  I really need to add my accessories.  Clip-Ons are hard to find and they're heavy.  So I've decided to take the plunge.  Anyone else?

Hi rachel That sounds awesome I wish I could but even though my wife is somewhat supportive shaving my legs about put her over the edge because it was so obvious.
I couldn't imagine what that it would do to her and it would be hard to hide from workers and my family.

I guess I can only dream of having them pierced and wearing dangly ear rings.
I also would love to pierce my belly button.

Let me know how it feels and get some pretty earings.
Love Patty

Rachel

I've gone and done it about 9 weeks ago (and now I can wear the earrings I want)

It's wonderful and frustrating waiting for them to heal when I so want to wear some prettier ones.

One word of advice.... Don't try to explain why... Just say "I did it because I wanted to."   People seem to accept that better than anything, and any stories make them ask a whole lot more questions.

I did shave my beard a few weeks ago and scarily I've had a couple of statements about "my transition" made to my wife, so unless you want that I'd suggest waiting a while for more significant outward changes.

Lots of Hugs

Molly

Rachel I pierced mine about 25 years ago before it was acceptable unless it was only on one side. Nobody has ever said anything over all the years... accept my wifey who chastised me about wearing anything feminine when in man mode.  KEEP THEM CLEAN!!  Also dont take them out in the morning then put them back in at the end of the day.  Your going to have to wear them till they heal.  Have fun and another great excuse to go shopping... EARINGS!

I pierced my own ears several times for specific outgoings and let ggem heal up again in a few days. Last fall i decided to try to keep them open though not being able to wear anything in them in my wife's prescence. I wore studs at work daytime and at home during nights and all the time when away for work trips forvseveral weeks. Still my right ear tend to close if I go without anything in it for a few days..

I had my left ear pierced years ago, and had major difficulty with it healing correctly. It's grown closed now - but I'm seriously considering having both pierced....I love earrings!

I've been thinking about it for a while. I really would love to be able to put on some big hoop or dangling chandelier style earrings. But it would attract way too much attention, especially at work. So I don't see it happening any time soon. I guess i'll just have to find a good source for clip on or screw back earrings.

I have always wanted to pierce my ears.  Maybe one day.

Thanks Molly,

I appreciate the words of wisdom about too much too soon.  This is a first.  I am slowly, ever so slowly having my eyebrows shaped.  So far no one has noticed that.  The earrings are something I've wanted to do for a while and I am finally making that first step.

I have pierced my ears at least 3 or 4 times in the past... and let them heal. I should have kept them pierced when I did it while in college. (It was common, but I was too worried thinking that people would realize the real reason).

I guess I could go with "middle life crisis" as the reason nowadays. Ha!

I hope that it goes well for you. I would love to as well, as the selection available for pierced ears is much larger, and nicer than clip on ones, plus I've lost a couple. Seems every time I go out with earings on, at least one drops off. Usually I've noticed right away, but not always, and its' gone for good.

My family is the main reason I haven't done it, I'm afraid there would be too many questions from my daughter in particular.

I hear you Amy.  I'm bracing for the same from my boys.  But, hey I'm 65 now and ready to be me.

I'm right where you are right now. My thought process has been coming for a few months - and the time is becoming right to finally get this done. I really appreciate all the insight and advice on this thread - thanks for posting it and good luck with yours!

*hugs!*

I'm also 60+, and had my ears pierced early last year when I left the workforce.

I too, just said it was 'because I wanted to'.

My daughter didn't like it, but has since accepted it. Wife didn't say much, just tolerates it as she does most of my fem side.

I also, late last year, go my nipples (re) done, and I really like them.

As has been said, they are not a part time thing - at least until they fully heal (3-6 weeks - nipples take far longer to heal). Look after them, keep them clean and use the antiseptic spray they will probably have wherever you get them done.

Above all, as Shakespeare said; "to thine own self be true" it's your life, your body, no-one else should be able to veto it (IMO). For myself, I came to the conclusion I will probably have more regrets about what I wanted to do, and didn't, than vice versa.

Good day Candy,

I had my ears pierced back in the 80's when is was cool to do. I have both ears pierced, a number of them actually. Two in one ear and three in the left ear.

Hope all goes well with your appointment.

Sarah Anne
