Places to buy dresses

I've had good luck buying through Amazon. Returns are easy, prices are good and the selection is great. I especially like the VfEmage line of dresses and skirts. I'm a 20-22 dress size and their stuff fits me great!

Just last night I bought a gorgeous dress from VfEmage for only $35. Should arrive on Thursday, so I'll let you know about the quality. I also like Venus, good prices but the quality is just so so, not bad but just so so. I'd stay away from their jewelry.

For higher quality clothes I'm a big fan of Macy's and sometimes Target. The best part of both is that it's really easy to return things. Just print out the return slip and drive over to your local brick and mortar store. I'm guessing you're still trying to figure out your size, so this will be a fairly big benefit.

The hardest part for me is to find dresses that fit my shoulders and male arms. Can't tell you how many times I've gotten what looks like a great dress just to find that I can't even get my arms through the arm holes. Then, the ones that do fit my shoulders are like a tent around the hips. This is why I'm such a big fan of the hip pads. If you can find something that is made of a stretchy material you'll be much better off. If I recall correctly, polyester doesn't stretch at all, so you'll want to stay away from that. The scuba material is very stretchy, but I've heard that it's also hot, so I stay away from that. The reviews will also give you some insight into quality and fit.

I too have broad shoulders and long arms so makes it tough I once bought a dress a Charlotte Russe and went to a bathroom to try it on it didn't fit so I had to return it it was embarrassing I will try target amazon and Venus I would like long sleeved dresses because my wife doesn't want me to shave my arms if you ever see any cute styles let me know thanks

One of the nice things about Target, if you have one nearby, is that you can order online and pick it up the same day if it's in stock. But Amazon does have a wide selection, too. Also, get on Macy's email list. It has sales all the time. By the way, though I have somewhat broad shoulders, I've never had trouble finding women's clothing that fits. Not everything, mind you, but a lot. I'd avoid the crossdressing specialty places, where the clothing in my experience tends to be poorly made and the prices high. Shop where other women shop.

I've tried garage sales and have found real nice outfits. No luck there when it comes to shoes, though.

I am glad that I am not the only one who has felt that Suddenly Fem's quality is a bit inconsistent.  I have found that their dresses made of stretchy material are great (I suffer the same problems as Julie with respect to sleeves).  I like their gaffes, corsets, and similar items since they are readily available at traditional women's stores.

I guess I will try Venus and VfEmage.  I am about a size 10 in the hips and waist but a 12-14 on top.  So many of my wife's size 12 dresses are perfect but I can't zip them up.  Maybe I should find a good tailor.

So, any other suggestions about places to shop?

The problem with Suddenly Fem is that the clothing choices seem to be geared to the "going out clubbing" scene. I need everyday clothes. Amazon is working. Watch eBay for clothing options.

Honestly you should go out more often, you look amazing. But I hear ya, I tend to be interested in 'going out' clothes. I guess I find them to be more fun to wear and I feel more feminine when I'm alluring

Thanks I plan on going out soon just waiting on my schedule to be more free and my wife to be more comfortable with me going out. I feel the same way about going out dresses more feminine and make me feel more sexy

My go to is Amazon. I found a brand that has larger shoulders and fits me better than other brands, Nemidor. I also scored at an Avenue store going out of business and got a lot of slacks and tops. This is where I found out womens clothing sizes can be completely different. One brands size 18 is another brands size 14, or someone elses size 20. It varies wildly, so if I can't try it on, I make sure it is easily returnable. Generally clothing from Asia is much smaller than described, there is also "asian size" you have to be careful of, it is not always advertised.

Hi Amber, your original post goes way back to Aug. 2017.  But there are some cute clothes advertised on this site like Mia etc.. The prices are pretty cheap but I have no idea if the price goes up over time. Or if the quality is that good.   I took the liberty to look at your pic's and you might like some of the things show.  I love their bodycon dresses, they are gorgeous.  You should be able to find a size there to fit you.
