I've been using makeup for a while now but, like most, I've not had anyone to show me so I've got to where I am by watching the obligatory YouTube videos. However, I'm not totally happy with the finished article as there's a few bits I'd like help with before I'm confident enough to go out (and I do want to get out).
YouTube is great to a point, but It doesn't show me how to get the best out of my features.
I was reading Melanie Elizabeth's post earlier where in her response Simone C described visiting a professional makeup artist who showed her how to choose and apply makeup, and I thought yep, that's what I need.
So the question is, does any of our ladies know of or could recommend an artist that could show me the way?

Hi Didi,
Ive been in the same position. The national big box store have services still suspended but i found a small independently owned beauty shop that advertised makeup and makeovers. They were extremly accommodating to me. I wanted privacy and they set an appointment time when i had the place to myself for two hours. For the first couple of visits it was well worth it to me.
Hi Didi,
Great to see you following through. Indeed as Roberta says make-up counters will give you some advice, my experience with them though was they are trying to sell you their products. Logical, they get a commission. Also, they won't give you advice on clothes, wigs etc.
Maybe look for a makeover service (google it) that specialises in CD/TVs and is familiar with the difference in the skin and also how to adequately conceal facial hair without resorting to a putty knife.
Good transformation/make-over service will also do a photo shoot of you, and some even accompany you outside if you need some moral support!
Hope that helps,
S
Hi Didi
Firstly let me welcome you to CDH this is definitely the place to learn and find friends! I have not been to a makeover place or had make up done in a cosmetics department of a store. But I know a few girls that have visited makeover / dressing services so I would advise you to look on line and see if there is anything that might be of interest:
All have good reputations, but are not particularly cheap, however it is somewhere to start looking especially as we are all unable to get out at the moment here in the UK.
Good luck!!
In the UK, I've watched their Youtube vids for a while. Wowman Patrick.
They have a business doing makeovers and whole photoshoot sessions.
I follow them on IG religiously, glamorous. You should see if they are taking appointments again during Covid...
Good Luck!!
xoxo
Hi Didi,
https://boyswillbegirls.co.uk would be my recommendation. I have an appointment with Cindy booked for whenever this interminable lockdown ends.

Thanks, that's useful to know. They're about 1/2 hour from me 👍🏻
The boudoir is only a few mins up the road from them in Limehouse too. Must be something in the water around there 😘
