I have always loved the look of corsets and would naturally like to add one to my femme wardrobe but I've tried a few on and haven't cared for the fit. I have a triangle shaped torso and am long waisted with a few, (could stand to lose 20 to 30), extra pounds. My hips and waist are virtually the same size and when I'm laced into a corset the bottom flares out with no body part contained within. My question is, will I eventually be able to fill a corset with diet and waist training, or am I forever doomed to a non-hourglass shape? The friendly sales girl laced me into 3 different sizes, so I don't think that's the issue. Thanks for any help on this topic.
HI Sofia! Corsets....my favorite clothing item! True....off the rack may not fit everyone.
My I recommend visiting web site Lucy's Corsets? She give you info on sizing and how to measure yourself for custom fitting, which sounds like you need. Do check it out......they are extremely well made and not priced out of site. Let me know how you make out dear.

Thank you Lady V! I will check it out for sure!
Hi Sofia,
I used a waist cincher / corset for many years. It was mostly uncomfortable and never really gave me the shape I was looking for. Then, about 6 months ago I made some DIY hip pads. The result was just phenomenal and gave me the hourglass shape I had always been looking for. If you already have wide shoulders, then all you need to do is to create hips to match your shoulders. Then, your waist will be smaller than both.
From that point you could add the corset, but I've found that it's not really necessary. In my case, the corset doesn't make my waist smaller from left to right, but does make me smaller from front to back, which kind of looks unnatural if it's out of proportion with the left to right waist size. If you have a bit of a belly, then the discomfort of the corset my be worth it. I've been dieting like crazy to keep the belly under control, so I'm usually good with just some Spanks to hold the last bit of guy belly in, which is way more comfortable than being laced up.
If you would like to know more about the DIY hip pads, just let me know.
Yeah, I absolutely love corsets. I'm bigger/thicker whatever you wanna call. A few things to consider.
A few things to consider.
Corsets are like ppl. They come in all shapes and sizes. Some corsets are called hourglass shape, If you are a triangle, you wont fit the hourglass corsets, as they are made for ppl who have that shape. Im guessing that may be part of the extra space the flair. (and YES to hip padding! I use them often and it gives that gorgeous fem shape to the sides) Having a few extra pounds i think helps. Thats because my mid has some give and pushes it into the "nice" areas. Corsets are made in many lengths. I can never do a short one and always hope that there is a long available. And trying one on at first never feels good, its awkward and looks maybe ok. After you lace up, move around in it, sit, stand walk and tie a shoe or something. This will make the lacing "even out" then take out the slack and tighten it to get a more "realistic" look. For saftety though you should break in your corset and tighten after a an hour or two.
orchardcorset.com can be a bit pricey, but the knowledge is plentiful
corsetdeal.com is a bit cheaper
and hey theres always ebay n aliex
Thanks for the great response Julie! Working on losing my belly really is top priority, I've gained 30 pounds in the last 3 years and am wishing I'd started this journey back then. My face has taken a hit too and I have an extra chin that's never been there before. Even with all that I still love the way I look and feel when all dressed up so I'm motivated to look even better! I would love to know more about your diy hip pads.
Thanks Daphne, lots of great information in your reply! I was wondering if might even out with wear and lace tightening. Also I'm sure I'll need a longer than normal size as well being 6' tall and rather long waisted. I'll check out the sites you recommended.
I love Orchard Corset, and they often have sales. Lots of videos on sizing, how to wear, etc.
Thanks for the responses Ladies. I have checked out both Orchard Corsets and Lucy's Corsetry's websites and both are filled with fantastic information and multiple videos on everything corset related. I filled out the size chart and sent a message with my fitting concerns to Orchard Corsets and received a swift response that answered my concerns and provided recommendations on size and style as well as how to wear. She suggested that since my underbust is larger than my hips to try wearing one upside down. Great customer service, they earned my business and I will be ordering from them in the near future.
Hi, I loved your post.
Hi julie
am interested in your tips for DIY hip shapers. Thanks. Look forward to hearing from you.

I thought I'd give an update on my search for a corset that fits. Although I was totally impressed with Orchard Corsets customer service and ready to buy from them, I took a trip to the local adult store where I've been trying on corsets. The girls that work there have been so sweet and helpful I decided to give them one more try. Armed with the information from Orchard Corsets I found that a standard length in 34 turned upside down laced up nicely and fit just like I was made for it. I felt so sexy in it even though I was in total drab mode. With a discount from loyalty points I got it for about the same price as a similar one online so I made the leap! Now I just need to find the time to start seasoning it. I have a feeling I'll still end up buying one or five more from Orchard!

Hi Sofia and Louise, I put a new post in the Fashion Beauty & Makeup forum about DIY hip pads. Looking forward to the pictures of you girls with your new figures. 💋💋💋
Well you didn't order from Orchard Corset, but this forum got me thinking and I sent them an email with my measurements, they recommended one of their underbust longline corsets and I just ordered it--with expedited shipping to boot! I own a couple of corsets already, and it's surprisingly easy to get used to them. An added benefit: they definitely improve my posture (not to mention the hourglass shape that I love.)
