Hello, so I'm wanting to try to get a nice wig, as I'd like to try have long hair, but also need to have my real hair stay short for when I'm going to meet with people not dressed up.
I've seen there's tons of options out there, and a huge swing in prices. I don't really know what is good choice.
I don't want to go to expensive as while I'll likely wear it a lot around the house I'm not going to be wearing it all the time and I'm not made of money. But on the other hand I realize if I go to cheap or from the wrong place it's just going to end up as a tangled mess and that's not going to be any fun either.
So I'm hopping you gals can give me some suggestions. I'm looking for a black or a very dark brown color, and be well past my shoulders.
Thanks so much everyone.
This will take some courage, but believe me...it's worth it.
Go to a wig store, and let them put a few on you.
Tell them what you like/have in mind.
Don't be nervous, they don't care that you're male. They want to sell a wig and make a customer that will return.
I spent $200 on my first wig(see my profile pic). It's a long wig that I love. I recently went back to the same shop and bought another, I wanted a short "bob" cut for summer...
It's like shopping for a car though, don't be afraid to walk away if you don't see the color/model you want.
Best of luck out there sweetie.
xoxo

Akari, I have ordered my wig from Paula Young, under $50, and am happy with it. The only thing for me is I Quit wearing it about 7 months ago because I am happy with my now shoulder Length hair.

Hi Akari! I would say get an inexpensive synthetic wig to see how you like it, and upgrade later if you want to make the investment. I was surprised by the quality of the one I got for under $25.00 that I got on Amazon. I would say get an inexpensive wig stand, some detangling spray, and an open tooth comb. Mine was 14" so not so long to be a mass of tangles. A more expensive wig allows you to do more styles (updos and higher ponytails) without looking fake. Also the scalp and part looks more realistic. The one I got comes in different colors including black and dark brown.

Hope this helps hun!🤗
I've got a couple from Amazon in the under $30 range, one was OK quality, the other was actually very good. I would have happy with it if I'd paid a lot more. That one is quite long, 20+in, and is a muted blonde colour, with highlights. Well done, meaning very natural looking and well presented in the package, though I haven't had it very long so I don't know what it's lasting quality will be.
My thoughts are along the line of what a previous poster said, go with a fairly cheap one till you decide what kind of style and colour you like, then upgrade to a better one when you know what you like and suits you, as I've gone through a few till I settled on a couple I really like.
Of course there is nothing like going in and trying several on to see how they look on your head shape, and compliments your natural colouring.
I have also bought from the advertisers here, and I have a nice lace front one which passes with ease, but also the latest cheap one from A.... passes as well!
Keep in mind that at the lower end of the price bracket quality is usually quite variable, sometimes quite good, other times not so much.
