Let me start off by telling you that because of a misshapen cornea, I have to wear gas permiable lens (hard) contacts. Because of this, I prefer to use either a felt pen eye liner or liquid eye liner makeup. The wax pencils have a tendency to push the contact out from the front of the eye into the corner, where they are useless.
I have a similar issue trying to remove the makeup. If I wipe it too hard, the lens will shift out of place.
On Halloween I used some liquid eye liner. When I went to remove it, I used some Noxema to clean the eye shadow, mascara, and eye liner. It seemed to remove everything from the top of the eye, but left some eye liner on the bottom lid. I could have tried again concentrating on the bottom lid, but I didn't want the lens to shift. Even after the contacts were out, I had difficulty removing the eye liner from the bottom lid.
Does anybody have any advice on removing liquid eye liner that doesn't involve a lot of scrubbing of the eye?
Hi Alison, my recommendation, with a wonderfully catchy name, is what I use every day to remove my eye makeup. It's called "Take The Day Off" and is made by Clinique. I use cotton makeup remover pads to swipe the solution gently across my eyelids and it easily removes all my makeup without having to do any hard rubbing. It is allergy tested, fragrance free and ophthalmologist tested.
Hugs,
Ms. Lauren M
I agree with Ms. Lauren. I also use a hypoallergenic liquid soap called cetaphil to wash gently as well. I certainly have had red eyelids when I was in a hurry to clean up and washed to vigorously. The final thing I do is use a Qtip, dip it a little makeup remover solution and run it along my lower and upper eyelid. Using this method I have found how much I didn't remove and I am sure would have some explaining to do. You can only use the Alice Cooper excuse so many times! Cheers, Melissa.
I agree with Melissa. Cetaphil is an easy solution. It does not require any scrubbing and it leaves your eyes and face feeling moisturized.
Hi Ladies,
I also agree with Megan and Melissa about using a moisturizing cleanser on your face. I've tried several, including Cetaphil, right now I'm trying CeraVe, a hydrating foaming and moisturizing facial cleanser, so far it's very nice and I'll probably get it again.
Hugs girls,
Lauren
I like using makeup wipes in general to take off most of my makeup (usually 1 wipe both sides is enough to take 95% of makeup off) and then finish with a gentle moisturizing cleanser, all good choices recommended previously. ymmv

I've had really good luck with a product called Farmacy Greenclean. It gets everything off without scrubbing....even heavy eye makeup.

Alison,
I too am very nervous about applying excessive pressure to the eye, when removing eye makeup.
What works very well for me and removes all types of eye makeup with a minimum of pressure is "Oil-Free Liquid Eye Makeup Remover," applied using cotton balls. Shake vigorously, before using.
It is sold under major cosmetic company labels, such as Neutrogena, but I have found the two best economically priced ones which I prefer are marketed under their store brand labels by Target and Walmart. Walmart's is Equate Oil-Free Liquid Eye Makeup Remover. Target sells theirs by the double pack, which will save you even more money.
I use noxema as well I find it works well on both pencil and liquid liner but my niece put me onto another product. Garnier skin active micellar cleansing water . Very nice and works great.
i used baby oil..all waterproof make-up comes right off with no problem.. then i follow up with just plain soap and water
Oh Yes! I sure can help you with this and more, involving not only a ALL kinds on eye makeup remover, forget the high end Ultra designer named products. Here’s what I do: Use Neutrogena oil free Eye Makeup Remover, a soft liquid like alcohol but no stinging at all. Concerning makeup removal in general, the oldest best and least expensive generic product is baby oil , takes off everything with a few swipes of cotton balls, try it , cost only a few dollars at your drugstore.
I second Megan's recommendation! I also use the Neutrogena wipes.
Thanks, Lauren that is product I have as well. It is so important to use skin appropriate cleansing solutions as they don't dry out the skin as much. Always use a hypoallergenic skin lotion after you remove your makeup. I use Oil of Olay for sensitive skin and doesn't have any perfume smell which is very important to me. Cheers, Melissa.
That’s right girl ! That’s exactly what you do and saves tons of money!
Coconut oil makes a great moisturizing eye makeup remover, a trick I learned from watching my daughter remove her own makeup, and depending on the look she might have some pretty heavy eye liner. It's also really good at getting off waterproof mascara. Makes a decent all purpose moisturizer, too.
