There are often questions here about women’s shoe sizing. Below is a chart from Nordstrom’s. Measure the length of your longest foot (inches or centimeters) and see what the corresponding shoe size is.

One thing to note is that all charts are not exactly the same. I wear a size 11 and according to this chart, that is 10 5/8”. However, on some charts the size 11 is 10 1/2” and all of the other sizes are shifted accordingly. Anyway, this should get you close...

Thanks for the info! It did take some experimenting for me to find the right size shoe. Especially since trying them on in the store didn’t seem like a good idea at first. Now I just don’t care what others think for the most part. And when you think you have it all figured out, you realize that different styles or manufacturers fit slightly differently. All part of the fun I guess!

Thank You!

The idea was to give folks a starting point, but you are right. There are some subtleties involved when you get into it. For me, width is a significant factor as the majority of women’s shoes are Medium width. Technically, I need a Wide. However, one way around that is wearing sandals. Here in SoCal it is either warm or hot, so sandals can be worn year round. The majority of my shoe wardrobe are wedge or chunky heel sandals. Over time, real leather will conform slightly. Wearing shoes around the house for a time (maybe several days) can help the break in process before wearing them outside. Shoe trees and stretching sprays can also help.

Over the last few years shoes with knit material instead of leather or polyurethane have become popular. I have a pair of Skechers sneakers in a Medium width that fit very well. I would also recommend shocking out elastic mesh shoes from Bernie Mev. and there are also some lower priced clones.

Anyway, half the fun is the Hunt!
