I have never understood this 'take your man's size, add 1.5 then divide by the number you first thought of and add 32' thing!
I have UK size 9 (Continental 43, US 11) and can - unless the shoe is lying about it's size - buy and wear women's size 9/ 43. If possible I will take a wide-fit option, just for that extra bit of wiggle room.
Years gone by, it was nigh-on impossible to find ladies' fashion shoes larger than an 8, and many a year I suffered in shoes that barely fit and nipped and chafed.
These days, with a much larger selection to choose from, I will find the sizes then look for the styles I want, and ultimately the purchase depends on cost... which reduces the options sometimes (goodbye Manolo Blahnik, Louboutin - forget it! 😁). I do prefer the higher heel - 3" is probably the lowest I would choose (depending on the shoe/boot) - and I am comfortable wearing (and walking in) very high ones and I'm quite happy to spend the day comfortably in 4.5" heels.
Bonjour Caroline...! I am going with the idea of Canadian and perhaps US sizing... I wear a mens 9/9.5. Most 10's (got 1 10.5 but moved genally to 10) in women's are ideal. An early SO gf had so called big feet for a girl, but smaller than mine, but she gave me my 1st 4" heels and never an issue. Now, 10's in everything my now SO buys (her feet are way smaller) or I buy are 10 even (likely 'US') and they fit: 6" heel, 9" heels. This is key, as even with platforms a lot of force drive into the toes, ands these after dancing, modeling (reels are big now) etc seem to work great! Merci for posting! Tres amour, Kyra ox
