Small things make all the difference

sometimes on a totally dressed in drab day...even with 3 days growth on my face, I put on some mascara and some sparkly lip gloss...and the world is spinning in the right direction...simple as that...

False eyelashes are my first ‘tipping point’ (see similar thread of that title). But the indispensable item for me is far and away.....lipstick! Like Rayna, if I can only do one thing, the lips are it!

The mask requirement has diminished lipstick for now, so #1 is blush. "Fluff" my hair, check my earrings in the mirror, and add a little blush to my cheeks, and ZAP! Bettylou's is the face in the mirror.

I just love eyeliner. I can hardly believe that one little thin line can my eyes pop so much. It’s indispensable when I do makeup. I would love try lashes, sounds like so much!

Dear Grace... in my new Hermes handbag(!) I carry my lippy everywhere! Just discovered that eating pizza is totally deleterious to lippy! OMG... xxx

Femininity can take many forms but what is the most important change one can make... good, no Great jewellery! Nothing screams woman more than the best earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets... all worn with restraint but..!
However, Grace is right as usual... Lipstick is a MUST! That and mascara...
Now that we’ve started on the subject... just kidding!

So, my very first girlfriend at high school went to the end of year ball with me dressed in a white hot pants suit and knee high boots! I can’t write what that did to me but you can imagine!
I have a black number that I am getting up courage to wear out soon and that I shall post!

My first professional makeover I started emailing the wonderful lady doing the makeover about clothes, dresses, shoes etc. beforehand. She very politely but firmly wrote back "We will get to that, your clothes can be perfect but if your face is male there is no point. If your face is female and your form and clothes a little male you will be OK. First session we will concentrate on getting the right colours, make-up and so on for your face and eyes and probably nothing else!"

Great advice, and that is what we did. She gave me a great list of what make-up to use, how to apply it, and NOT the most expensive stuff, what to avoid for my skin and face, and so on. At the next session it was much faster as she knew what we needed and the effect was incredible, looking into the mirror at a mature, well made up woman. We then moved to clothing, adjusting the style to what I wanted and what she agreed matched the colours, and shoes. Then (next tip!) accessories: earrings, rings, necklace, belt, handbag etc. "Women accessorise!" She said, and if you look it is true. Even in jeans and flats women have some accessories on to set off their outfit subtly.
