Now I’m normally a tights (pantyhose) girl, but today I tried a garter belt and sheer black stockings under a pencil skirt for the first time, as part of today’s outfit.
Wow- I felt SOO feminine! I think I’ll be buying more stockings from now on!

I agree, Joanna, stockings do feel more feminine and, I think, luxurious, especially "real" nylons. However, if you're anything like me, you will be buying more because they rip, catch and ladder much more easily than tights. And they're a lot more expensive 🙄.
@alexina Sheertex still has a few styles of stay-up stockings (back-seam and plain). I have one pair that I have worn at least 150 times. Sheertex also has frequent sales.
Thanks, Harriette, I had a look at the UK site and I've ordered stockings and tights. I'll post my thoughts after receiving and wearing them 😊.

@alexina Sheertex used to have a lot more thigh-high patterns and I bought what I could afford when they had their last clearance sale. Hopefully they last me a lifetime.
I wish that they would change their minds, but I guess that they are just responding to the numbers game.
They have very good customer service and, if you like their products, then you should tell them. They have been reliable beyond measure.
Good customer service is so rare these days that I always make a point of telling the company involved and leaving a good review.

@joannat I generally wear tights by do love stockings as a treat and the tug of the suspender belt whilst walking.

@joannat it’s so awesome to wear stockings Joanna, I love them and they are so much easier to wear than pantyhose or tights and one more benefit, it’s easier to go to the ladies room too with a little planning.
@joannat - I love opaque (60 denier) coloured hold-ups and am pleased to see more of those available online. I've recently added red, burgundy, and navy to my wardrobe.

I've worn them over the years but they've never replaced tights. However, over the past few months I have been enjoying wearing stockings rather a lot! I like to wear them over a pair of very sheer-to-waist glossy tights (I think I have a fetish! 😜). Wearing sheer glossy stockings with a suspender belt and especially a basque or corselette, that feeling of the various items pulling and sliding and reacting to my movements is just... divine!
There is definitely something special about stockings and suspenders - hold-ups don't do it for me at all. And I agree with you Joanna, under a nice tight pencil skirt they feel fabulous - and the little bumps showing where the clips are is quite titillating 🤭
That's one of the fabulous things about crossdressing - there is always something new to discover 🙂
@joannat I don't do it nearly enough, but I love garter belts and stockings. I wear lingerie for me, and a garter belt and stockings make me feel so sexy and empowered as a woman event if nobody else sees it.
@joannat A garter belt and stockings has a certain something about it that pantyhose can't capture. Thigh highs have their own personality as well. Give them a try while your at it and experience the range of feelings.
@joannat i bought a garter belt and stockings years ago, around my college years, and i loved how it looked and how they felt on me. I worn any in years, but having read this I think i'll go shopping for some this weekend. ❤️ ❤️

I gave up pantyhose. Love the gentle pull I feel when I am walking with nylons and garter belt. It keeps a mischievous grin on my face all day!
@joannat Preach, girl! Apart from toeless tights I wear in the summer with shorts or skirts, it's stockings for me.
Wearing a garter belt and stockings is such an special, feminine sensation. My next pair of stockings will be black with a seam running down the back. Always wanted to try that style.
Hi, Fiona, I have a few pairs of seamed, or "Fully Fashioned" stockings.
At the risk of teaching granny to suck eggs, I'll offer a couple of tips for getting, and keeping, the seams straight.
The seam usually runs from toe to top so I try to follow/guide it up the middle of the back of my leg it by using my index finger as I pull the stocking up.
Once in place (check with a mirror, or two if, like me, you can no longer rotate your head like an owl), and use an open bottom girdle with at least 6 straps. I've found that suspender, or garter, belts don't have the same holding power as an obg and neither do straps only front and back.
I'd also add that "real" non-stretch, nylons stay straight better than stretchy or "one size" stockings.
That said, each to their own. Whatever works for you 😊.

@alexina Thanks for the tips Allie. I have a 6-strap garter belt that is comfortable but an OBG will probably be my next lingerie purchase.
@alexina I'm not an expert in anything...but realise that it's around 65 years since I first wore stockings, so I have experienced most situations and most combinations of stocking types and suspender belts/girdles. I would add a couple of thoughts to Allie's.
Four suspenders were always adequate back in the era when stockings were every-day wear. Only the heavier, firmer girdles ever had six. Suspender belts have more potential for twisting and movement and that's why deeper belts with shorter suspenders tend to hold stockings better. The short suspenders on open girdles are even more secure, though they tend to feel more restrictive.
These days, looking at photos of stocking wearers, I see two situations that back in an earlier era would have been regarded as "mistakes". First, stockings are too long, almost to the buttocks and, consequently the suspenders are not under any tension, resulting in wrinkles in FF nylons. Second, suspenders should be attached vertically downwards. At the rear, I often see them at an angle so that they pull the stocking round towards the side, dragging the seam outwards. Sometimes this also results in suspenders attached close to or in the finishing loop on FF nylons - very risky. The only time I came across suspenders fastened at an angle was when girls tried to avoid front suspender bumps showing by attaching them slightly to the inside of their thighs. This can work but affectshow they feel when walking.
Never worn stockings Joanna? Nearly as bad as me never having worn panties 😂. So pleased for you to discover the pleasure. I've enjoyed the feel of stockings a few times. Occasionally with a belt but my favourite is an OBG. Mmm, so sexy xx.

Whenever I'm going to be Caty, even for a few hours with no make up, I always wear a suspender/garter belt and stockings as part of my lingerie.
Most of my "Sussie belts" are upscale English brands like What Caty Did and Kiss Me Deadly and I always try to colour match them with the rest of my "lovely undies". Eg black with black panties, cami and bra.
Much more "femme" than plain old panty hose.

Stay ups are my go to, I've haven't found a garter belt that I thought I looked good in. I'd like to buy an OBG with 6 clasp and see if I like that, might change my opinion. But I love Vienne Milano stockings the most.
