Does any lovely lady know where one can obtain those hold-up stockings (not for bank robberies!) where the silicon band is made for those who don't have thunder thighs?

All the ones I can find fit perfectly, until the band at the top. Then they don't grip on to my skinny thighs and slide down fairly quickly. I think they are also too loose at the band to even work with the "It Stays!" glue.

@michaela2001 You are not alone....I seem to have the same issue, LOVE my "thigh-highs" but they eventually roll down and can become an awkward nuisance at the worst times...a garter belt can help, but at least for me, with limited movement, are not too easy to attach, especially in the back, so I've invested in a few pair of "suspender hose" that I've owned before and recently re-discovered....a very acceptable compromise for me...you might like them, as well...."good luck"...!!!

@michaela2001 I like my Hanes with the plain top rather than the tops with extra lace.  They stay up wonderfully and they come in about 5 sizes.  I've never had the plain top hold-ups roll down, but the lace ones will a little.  Problem is for me, they run more easily than pantyhose.  And again, Hanes has added a couple larger sizes and with my added height and slightly larger feet, the Larger size is great.  I wonder if you have had any experience with the ultra-high waisted pantyhose from Target - they're an off-brand and I think those are Target's own brand.

@danikiss22 Dani, I have plenty of pantyhose, usually picking them up at Walmart, high waisted too.

@michaela2001 I understand completely.   Unfortunately (!!!) my physique is not the same as a CIS woman and my legs just won't hold up thigh highs.   I do still wear them at times with a garter belt or bustier which I love!

@michaela2001 Sounds like you need some pantyhose. Michaela, I live in Arizona, and I wear pantyhose every day. An abundance of AC is veery much appreciated.

With affection,

Christine

@michaela2001 you can buy them from Amazon I myself personally love to wear pantyhose control top. I just love the full PAntie and the hose. I know a lot of you girls like hold ups or nylons with a garter’s but me I’m an old fashion pantyhose girl.

@michaela2001 There should be plenty available online. I had (actually, have) the same problem right now as I bought some bigger ones than I usually do because I looked at the height recommendations on the back of the packet. 6ft = large apparently. I should have stuck with mediums as they have always worked before so my advice would be, go a size smaller & see if that works

@michaela2001 Michelle, with my ‘stay ups’ which don’t do what the label says, I hold them up with suspenders.  I actually find that combination very comfortable and everything stays in place.

@christineth The silicone strips on the ones that I have are right where my suspenders need to clamp.

How do we find stockings that can do both?

@harriette Harriette, i have stockings that have thin strips of silicone and others that have lacy tops - both types have places to attach the clamp.  But with those stockings which have wide silicone strips, I just force the clamps to lock.  This does sometimes damage the silicone strip (especially if they are older stockings).  Hugs Christine

@christineth Thanks. I presume that those clamps are half metal, too. Plastic ones would blow apart. The silicone strips that I have are too thick to do that.

@harriette Harriette, indeed the are the metal clamps, the plastic ones struggle.  Sorry.  Hugs Christine

@michaela2001 moisturise your thighs, this helps the hold up to adhere and stop that awful feeling of stockings falling loose. A tip from my SO which has proven successful 🥰

Michaela, I've had wonderful results with stay up stockings from VienneMilano. They have never failed me, I too do not have large thighs and ordered using their size chart which I think is important. I love their look, feel and fit and they seem to last a little longer.

@blondsherri Thank you, I had a quick look at them, saw a pair I really liked, then saw the price! LOL I did find some cheaper ones on the site though. I like the size chart, that is really helpful.

@michaela2001 You could, alternatively, try a suspender belt and non-thigh high stockings. It's a little fancier, but for me they are definitely a little higher femininity octane, as it were.

You can get a good 6-strap suspender belt on Amazon for not much, and I get some good stockings on Etsy. If you want links to either, just send me a PM! 🙂

@melodeescarlet Thank you, I already have those, including a 6 strap suspender that I got from Walmart.

If you want to wear hold-ups with slender legs try Couture, they are very good and feel wonderful on freshly shaved legs and under a floaty dress

I’ve had good luck with the on the go brand sold at Walmart. They are cheap, and they stay on my legs pretty well. I don’t even know if I have a garter belt maybe somewhere. I’ve just always use the ones with a little silicone ring on the inside of the top.

I did buy some expensive ones at Janets down in Wyandotte and bought a pair for my partner when we were down there earlier this year. They stretched out way too big though, and they wouldn’t stay either of our legs. Kind of disappointing for what they cost and the Walmart ones stayed a lot better lol

I.ve had good luck with "Hanes Silk Reflections" thigh highs. You can get them most anywhere but i usually go to Amazon, Belk or Dillard's.

I just can't seem to get along with hold-up stockings. It's almost as if I have greasy thighs - they just will not stay up!

Mind you, to be honest, I am not a great fan of stockings on their own, as I am too much of a fan of tights (or is that fetishist?🤔). I always end up wearing my hold-ups with a suspender belt or basque to keep them in place over a nice pair of very sheer-to-waist glossy tights.

@caroline2k I also prefer tights and have recently switched to sheer stockings only because it's been so warm

@annaredhead Well, it appears that 'summer' is over! 🙄

At least it is where I am... back to damp and dreary mornings and cloudy days, although I suppose it's a brighter shade of grey than winter. 😀

If the weather is too warm for tights, you should just wear mini skirts Anna! 😉

@caroline2k It's certainly cold and grey this morning! I've bought a couple of mini skirts this year, great with patterned tights.

Have just found that What Katie Did stockings will stretch enough for my long legs!

@annaredhead

What Katie Did stockings - I say! I would be perpetually worried about keeping the seams straight 😆

Have you tried their lingerie? I'm too much of a casual stockings wearer to commit to one of their suspender belts or merry widows, as lovely as they look.

@caroline2k I have their suspender belts, they are wonderful and very comfortable. I've not worn any of their other items but my wife has. Beautiful lingerie.

I do wear seamed stockings from time to time and will be sporting them for a photoshoot tomorrow.

@annaredhead  I look forward to seeing the pictures Anna... does this mean we'll be seeing some (ahem) 'boudoir' shots? 😜

@caroline2k We'd not thought of any boudoir shots, but we'll see how we get on. The photographer has taken pictures of me before when I wasn't wearing very much.

It'll be about 3 hours of studio time, 3 outfits. A shopping day in Brighton yesterday has brought several adjustments to today's outfits.

Am super-excited.

@caroline2k It was brilliant! I also managed to spend a ridiculous amount of money shopping in Brighton but did get some delightful items. I's still working on getting decent stoking top poses and photos, so we'll see what the photographer managed to get to work.

I was going to suggest trying the Sheertex brand of stockings because they had a handful of sizes. They had a very reliable silicone grip. Unfortunately, it looks as if the company has cut stockings from their product line*.

As far as I know getting the right size and finding a brand with good silicone is about all you can do to solve the problem. Clean skin and no hair would help, but it seems some people need more.

* Has anyone tried cutting the legs off of pantyhose and used them with a garter belt? Did it work?

I contacted Sheertex about them dropping their stocking lines and was told to be patient because they may reintroduce them.

In my mind, it would be bad business for a company to suggest something like that if they have no intention of actually reintroducing stockings, so fingers crossed.

I have had really good luck with the thigh highs sold through the Secrets in Lace website. They are stylish and well made. I have never had an issue with them sliding down my legs. I underdress with them often and they stay put the entire day.

Hugs,

Emily
