Wanted to do a quick post. I have enjoyed reading so many posts and thought to add to the community discussions.
Where I am today and What my plans are for the future related to fashion, clothes, makeup, etc.
Before you judge me, I will say that I am a patient shopper and buy most of my stuff on clearance...many of my dresses cost less than $10 or $10-20. 🙂
Today (My three-ish year journey)
I have:
100 dresses (wow, I had no idea until I counted right now - size 14 - two closets full!!!)
14 skirts (mostly plaid)
11 blouses
10 cute nighty things that I can wear at night to bed
3 shrugs (gotta stay modest and cover those shoulders right girls...LOL... no really they are for covering the breast form lines)
13 pairs of shoes (6 heels - size 12)
24 bras
7 wigs
Other Clothing items that I never wear (6 pairs of yoga pants - never been used...LOL)
5 pairs of cateye glasses (I only wear cateye! I have bought probably 30 pairs of glasses over the years and landed on large frame cat eye as my fav)
Tons of accessories (tiaras, bracelets, at least 10 pearl bracelets, at least 5 pearl necklaces, earrings, garters, too many pantyhose to count, etc.)
A very small bag of makeup
No Nails stuff 🙁
Future?
Where does it go from here? What have I found that I like and what don't I like.
I will definitely never buy yoga pants again. I like the feel but dresses are my jam!
I think Im done buying Bras. I love lace bras but I have every color so there is really no where to go in that department.
I have two pairs of heels that will have to eventually be replaced but I'm in a good place with heels.
Good on Shrugs...once you get black, white, and gray, you are really covered for any outfit.
More than enough nighty type things. Honestly don't hardly wear them.
I rarely wear blouses and skirts but will purchase something cute on Clearance, obviously
Dresses - Yes. I am addicted to dresses...mini, midi, maxi, formal, work-attire, casual, lowcut, highcut, etc. etc. I am really exploring designers now. I have a lot of work-related Calvin Klein dresses that I like to put on when Im working. I have too many mini's and not as many maxis. I have a few formals and I love shopping for formal dresses right after prom season!!!
I need more choker necklaces to hide that obvious breatform lines at the neck level.
I would love to explore easy sticker nails and I need to level up that bag of makeup.
Do I start throwing stuff away or just get another wardrobe?!? Life is full of hard choices...LOL!
Just wanted to share the wildness of my closet. Its been an amazing journey of self-discovery and I'm looking forward to reporting back maybe in a year on where I am...(will I hit that 200 dress count...LOL)
Hope you girls have a wonderful Christmas and get yourself something pretty!
I don't have anywhere near that amount of stuff...but male me did buy Becca a car , so dollar for dollar, we are probably pretty much equal
Becca
Wow must say what a collection all mine fits in a tote lol 😂 thank you for sharing with use
I started out the exact same way! Got to start somewhere. Slowly work your collection up.

Wow that is quite the wardrobe you have.
It's funny that you mention yoga pants. I have 3 pair of yoga pants/leggings that I wear on occasion, mostly cooler weather. I've worn them in the backyard in the very early morning when I take the dog out, kind of bends the agreement with my wife to not dress outside the house (she doesn't know that I do that). Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission - at least it isn't a dress or skirt. I also have slacks and jeans that I don't wear. I think sometimes about getting rid of them to make room for more dresses and skirts but then stop figuring that if I am able to get out of the house dressed they would be the first things I would wear out. I figure they would be less noticeable, kind of an androgynous look.
I bet it would be fun to have your own fashion show changing in and out of outfits checking yourself in the mirror. Enjoy your full closet and remember a girl can never have too many dresses.
XOXO

I make a very concerted effort not to buy much. It is just too easy to buy things, but not have much oppurtunity to wear them. Plus, while my wife is wonderful and never complains, I do not want to push it. She has never said anything about the half dozen or so dresses hanging on my side of the closet, she certainly would if I had 100, or even twenty. Most importantly, I do not want to get caught up in our consumer society were we consume way more then we should. It may be small, but it all has impacts on the planet, so we need to think a little bit about our over all consumption, not just the dresses or pretty panties we buy. I can not wear out the dresses I have, so I try not to buy more.
I figure i have about a 2 dozen dresses and pencil skirts, 30+ tops , 20 bras and far too many pairs of panties and lots of lace top stockings, 3 wigs, 3 pairs of heels and lots of makeup and perfume
Not to rain on anybody's parade, but donating clothes, and over consumption, still have major impacts. A lot, if not most donated items still end up in a landfill. Fast fashion has a massive impact and more and more cheap clothes are being discarded. Even good quality items resold often mean that what ever it replaced ended up in a dump.
I am not saying we can't have nice things, but we do need to think about our purchases both now, and how they effect the future.
...and JJ steps off her soapbox.
I am a dress fan too although there are skirts and tops, I am also a sucker for a bargain too.
My rule is that it has to be worn and being a lucky girl dressing daily helps achieve that goal. There are favorites that have been worn multiple times and are well looked after and some about ten years old or more.
If I have a clearance the clothes are donated and are in good condition so do get on the rails. If the charity stores have unwanted items they send on for rags which are shredded and recycled, it's an ethical approach.
I fear counting my items and know I have too much as do many women. Some of my friends have clothes bought a while ago which still have the store tags in them.
I will always say that as we are late into the buying game we have a lot of time too catch up on so shouldn't feel too guilty.
It appears that we are the same size in both clothing and shoes so feel free to donate to me. Just kidding, shopping is half the fun and space, not funds, is my limiting constraint.
Reading your post I couldn’t help but start humming the twelve days of Christmas. You know, four lacy panties, three sparkly brackets, etc.
