Do you girls have any self inspired tricks and hacks to share?
Here's two:
For trying on dresses:
#1..I have a strong nylon string/cord with a fishing line clip on it to pull up zippers.
(although it feels really cool to have a CSR dot it as well).
#2...I bring a silk pillow case to cover my head as I pull things on and off to avoid makeup transfer.

I've got one..... When trying on lingerie, the moment it feels like it will be too tight stop! I was once trying on an item that you had to slip over your head and then mange to get your shoulders through. I really wanted it to fit and went too far with my efforts and became stuck. I was standing there in some skimpy panties with my arms outstretched with no way out! I was terrified to call the SA for help as I didn't want to embarrass her as there wasn't much left to the imagination regarding my appearance nor did I want to rip this garment to free myself. I was eventually able to wiggle free, but it certainly got dicey for a few minutes!

Hi Harietta.

On your first example I use a narrow silk strand that I taper in one end. I then put the tapered end though the little hole between the zipper and the handle and then tie a knot. This way I don’t hurt myself compared with a fishing line.

As we age our eyelids droop and the skin becomes textured.

Sometimes it is difficult to work with powdered eyeshadow.

Try cream or liquid.

Cream comes in a stick or pot and can find brands that have a good price point.

They are easy to apply and blend.

You can use one colour and build up.

The cream or liquid does not enhance the skin texture.

Also if you like a brand but it is high end and you cannot afford it google a dupe.

So for example lets say I have a Jessica makeup brush that I sell for $100 you google Jessica makeup brush dupe.

You will find people that have a replacement for the high end product.

You can do it for lipstick foundation etc.

It's just the snap that comes from my tackle box. The cord is a softer braided nylon from those dorky things you use to string reading glasses around your neck...The snap never lets go until you un snap it.

Haha!

For #1, I've always found that sales assistants are more than happy to help with zips - they usually offer before I go into the dressing room.

My makeup tip is contour, contour, contour.

Your male face has many aspects which signal the masculine, e.g. the larger area between lips and nose, chin shape, brow, etc.

By using contouring tricks appropriate to our own face shape, we can blend many of these out.

There are dozens of YouTube videos on the subject, so my tip is to pick a feminine look - any that takes your fancy - and pick out aspects that you'd like to see on your own face.

For instance, the area between lips and nose.

You can find a general video to try the techniques, then have a go at copying someone's look.

Take pictures and compare side by side - how close are you?

Where is more shade required? More light? More blending?

The first time I tried contouring, I was blown away by the difference - but I look back and see how clunky my initial attempts were.

That simply shows you're progressing.

Always treat it like a work in progress, but enjoy the results you have achieved so far without getting hung up on the bits that aren't so good.

You're probably not going to create the Mona Lisa on first attempt 😋😋😋

Just enjoy makeup.

I much prefer liquid foundation to powdered for ease of application.

The trick here is to brush a smooth and non-streaky finish with a large, soft brush or slightly damp sponge, and add thin, thin layers if needed.

Thick foundation looks terrible, but finely brushed thin layers can work really well - especially if you use a shade lighter for the main area of your face, and a darker shade around the perimeter, cutting into the cheeks - and blend well.
