I have never worn makeup before. Which do you think is better for a make over and help. Ulta or Sephora?
@pipertime I've used Ulta a number of times, but Sephora rarely. Mostly that's a geographical thing - the Ulta is simply closer.
In my experience the Ulta stores are bigger, with a wider selection. For example, the Sephora I was in had no fake nails or polish.
Both stores had nice, helpful people though. 🙂
Both stores are equally good with dealing with CD's and trans women. Try both and see which one feels better for you.
Sephora I believe allows you try any makeup and return it if you don’t like it
Sephora stores that I have been in do makeovers right in the front window which I don't really like. For me, Ulta is better in this regard. Sephora does have a good selection of the brands I like and if I go in there it is usually with a list. The store I really liked was MAC but there isn't one close to me anymore.
I haven't gone to Ulta yet, But I did have a Make over at Sephora, I can tell you that they were wonderful!!! The lady who did my make over was very kind and supportive of me and my desire to be more feminine
I have had good experiences at Ulta. I haven't tried Sephora since they seem to handle mostly more luxury and expensive makeup lines than I need.
Interested in having a makeup session to help me learn, but can't seem to get an answer for this online--for me, I have the option of Ulta and Sephora. Does either one do makeup sessions in a booth somewhere in the back of the store, or are they always somewhere in the middle of the floor (aka open area)? Or, is this store-specific and I need to call ahead, or visit and find out?
Also checked into a personal makeup artist, but I kind of like going cheaper with products available for purchase for the first go-round. I can be talked back into it, based on the answers above!
