Hi all
I wanted to share a wonderful experience I had in Sydney Australia today 5/5/2018. I was in the city doing a bit of window shopping as a man and I passed by the Wig Affair, a womens wig shop in Piccadilly centre on Pitt Street. http://wigaffair.com.au.
I browsed the window displays and noticed it was very quiet so I decided to go inside. I normally only shop for womens clothes and makeup either online or in stores that have self checkouts so this was a big deal for me. The sales person, Ellie asked if I needed assistance and was if I looking for something for myself. I suddenly found myself completely at ease and I explained that I was transgender and new to the whole wig thing (I am completely bald, used to be blond) and was she comfortable looking after me. She could not have been more helpful. They have a private fitting room that I could have used but felt so good about myself I decided to use those in the shop, I offered her the option to use the room if she was uncomfortable but she was fine looking after me in the shop. I tried on a number of wigs and while I was doing so the shop became quite busy with female customers, I was surprised how much at ease I felt. I ended up buying two wigs both a perfect match that softened my masculine features, one a medium blond, medium length with lighter blond streaks and a dark brown, slightly shorter length, which we tried on for fun and we were both surprised how much it suited me and really bought out the colour in my eyes. Ellie was such a wonderful sales person and gave me lots of good advice regarding wigs, how to wear them correctly and look after them to get the best life out of them.
What a wonderful day😁
I will certainly be returning the next time I need wigs, hopefully next time as a woman.

I'm not surprised to hear this Elsa. I find professional shops generally employ people who treat customers with respect better then discount stores. The attitude you portray also plays into the service you receive. I am sure Ellie was truly happy helping you and had the bonus of selling two wigs.

Hi Elsa,
If you are in Sydney, you should totally check out House of Priscilla on Oxford Street. It is officially a costume shop and it has a drag slant, though you'll find they are lovely and there is probably a lot of stuff there you might want or need, especially in bigger sizes. Plus it is a bit more private as you go upstairs into the shop instead of being seen from the street.
I am from Brisbane and only ever visited there once (while on a business trip) and it is a special place for me because it is the only place I ever got to do proper shoe shopping.
Hugs,
Scarlett
Hi Scarlett
Thank you for the info, I will certainly take a look at the House of Pricilla next time I am in the city (Sydney). I am after some shoes at the moment so this sounds ideal
Hugs Elsa

My pleasure - us girls have to help each other out 🙂
