Been in this community a while, but I want to reach out to the other girls out there my age - i.e. born in the 80s-early 90s.
It came seem like there aren't a lot of us here and given my experience with that I just wanted to put some extra effort into connecting with the other girls in or around their 30s. Our times have been very unique and unsettled ones so it can be a little hard to relate to those even slightly older and DEFINITELY even slightly younger, so I want you to know I want to hear from you especially.
If you read this as being about dressing 80s style, well I would love to hear about that too!

Hi Aoife,
Yes, I was one of those who read the tag line and thought it was about dressing 80’s style. Here we go I thought my era, the years where I tried to dress either like an extra from Dallas or in a faux Candi Lauper style.
I spent the middle years of the 80’s at university and probably wrote most of my assignments and thesis dressed. Everything was big, big hair, big shoulders, big heels and definitely big make up. The university life was also big drinks and big hangovers but that is a different story.
I hope you get lots of replies from the members born in in 80’s and 90’s, I also sense you will get quite a few responses from the oldies like me who will drive you made with their reminiscing.

Born in late 60s. So love dressing and talking to girls. Xx
That style seems like so much fun! Maybe not all the most comfortable, but Cyndi Lauper/early Madonna? What could be better.
How I remember the rah rah skirt, patterned tights and ankle boots, I am becoming quite nostalgic.
Born in the 80's and have early childhood memories of mom and dad flipping through TV channels...even though they would only be on a channel for a couple of seconds, the one image I never forgot was when they flipped to whatever channel broadcast Baywatch. Even that young, I was interested in one piece swimsuits before I first wore one a few years later.
Growing up in the 90's, I remember watching Disney movies and feeling drawn to the princesses in ways I didn't quite understand at the time. I do actually remember thinking I wanted to be like them more than once, but then suppressing those thoughts and making excuses for them to myself. (Disney guys are usually pretty forgettable though, aren't they?) Boys were still pretty strongly discouraged from doing any kind of "girl stuff" or wanting to be feminine in any way in those days. That, plus the fact that I was very into typical "boy stuff" caused me to not really acknowledge or begin to explore those thoughts and feelings until much more recently.
Born in 68 , so a tad older but did my partying through the wonderful nightclubs of that era , no selfies , no social media no pictures falling into the wrong hands 😜 Tiff
Welcome Aoife!
Welcome Aoife !
I need to hear that pronounced to see if it sounds as pretty as it looks. I also thought the title refered to 80's fashion and I got an image of short skirts and leg warmers. I'm also older. I have a daughter your age. Nice to meet you.
Oh leg warmers, will they ever make comeback? Reminds me of the Olivia Newton-John video for the song Physical, bright coloured leotards and leg warmers.
I love to wear leg warmers around the house when it gets really cold. Otherwise, qll those delicious skirts would have to go into winter storage.
I knew a girl in college that wore leg warmers all winter with short skirts - she claimed it was some sort of medical reason. She was strange but I sure liked seeing that.
That’s for sure. there were definitely a lot of those left over in my mom’s closet in the 90s and well, that almost put a bad taste in my mouth in terms of trying on her clothes... not any better to look at either.
Hey there, I was born in 1970, but I say bring on the neon and day-glow colors and the big poofy hair, high heels and androgynous look of the 80s.
