Hi All,
I'm "new" here. That is, I'm a long-time lurker, but new member. My origin story is the same as many of yours. I discovered the sheer bliss of exploring my mother's closet at a young age, and it went from there. I've experienced the full spectrum of euphoria to shame, and spent countless hours wondering "why am I like this?" or wishing, like Pinocchio, that I was a "real boy." Since my divorce in 2001, my greatest dream from when I was a wannabe girl in 1970 has come true: I have a house all to myself, with a closet full of dresses, skirts, tops, and shoes. I have great (fake) breasts, and more bras than my mother ever dreamed of to hold them. Brooke can be Brooke anytime she wants, which is almost everyday. And although I'm long past feeling bad or confused about it - I love feeling like a woman - I still struggle with issues of coming out, or even just going out in public. I'm so envious of of my sisters who are out and proud. In the mid-2000s I saw a gender therapist, and actually got my "letter" for gender reassignment, but couldn't go through with it, to my everlasting regret. Now I'm 61 and retired. I've come to fully accept my feminine self, and love myself as Brooke. I've also come to accept that I prefer men over women (the other thing I've struggled with my entire life). I only mention it because I know that this site is mostly for hetero men, and I want to be honest. And honestly, sisters let me tell you, there's no dress I've ever worn that made me feel more feminine than being with a great man.
@brookep Brooke, be assured this is the right place for you. Yours is the absolute classic story of shame, purging, coming back to your girly side and repeat endlessly. I'm so pleased to hear you are much more comfortable with your authentic self now. Who you are attracted to has no relevance here. And if you've been lurking for a while then you'll have seen how supportive, friendly and fun the girls here are. So jump in and reap the benefits of this wonderful community. @brookep You're in a great place Brooke. Lots of us have a story similar to yours in many if not all ways. Many of us struggled like you with getting out into the world but have overcome it. In my case, I am out in the world doing thing I only dreamed of in the past. To me, being out in the world as my feminine self is just incredible and energizes me so much.
@brookep Adding my agreement with all Chrissie said. I have friends in every pigeonhole of this wonderful mailbox. We all share one thing, we are non judge mental and totally supportive. Unfortunately the world outside is still hostile toward us in many places. Thus we band together United, and sharing in being the luckiest people on earth. WELCOME!

Since you've been on the site for a couple of months now, you already know that it's a very warm and supportive community.
CDH isn't 'mainly for hetero men' at all. Since that's what the majority of crossdressers are it might seem that way, but it isn't the case that the site is aimed mainly at them.
You've accepted your feminine side, and in doing so you've found that you're actually more attracted to men; you'll find many members here who share your feelings, so please don't feel that you have to explain anything. You do you!
There's lots to explore here. Have fun looking around, and if you need help with anything just shout.

Welcome to CDH. Like you I struggled with my dressing and sexuality all my life. I am married to a loving and caring spouse who supports my dressing. I have no intentions of transitioning or "stepping out" - just being able to acknowledge my feelings regarding my femininity and sexuality is enough after decades of denial. I see a gender therapist as well and she has helped me in my acceptance as well as other matters.
