Hi my name is Jenny

I am a 64 year old crossdresser who would appreciate some help with buying the best foundation makeup and the routine involved.

I have not had the chance to dress for many years but now have the opportunity to rent a cottage near Bournemouth in Nov for a few weeks.

Thank you

Jenny

Youtube is your friend so just do a search and pick a few to watch and learn. There is a poster here named WifeofChristine who I think offered makeup advice so I hope she doesn't mind me referring her so just message her and ask if she can help. Makeup is one of the hardest things to master and takes lots of practice with trial and error to find what works for you.

Hi Jenny Myself always had the best of luck with the products from Dermablend. Blends great and if say have scares or blimeshs will cover those area too. Even if say have tatoos wanting to cover. Have fun, Like others say youtube have some great videos on applying makeup. some basic to advance.

Hi Jenny,

If you're just getting started and don't mind "drug store brands", I'd highly recommend Revlon New Complexion Pressed Powder foundation.  Assuming you can find it in your shade.

It goes on really easily, and virtually impossible to apply incorrectly.  There is no need to set it with powder after, and the look is very natural after applied.  It's also virtually impossible to streak and comes with a little sponge applicator that seems to do the job really well.

The texture and sheen after application is matte.... which I love as with aging skin, any kind of sheen (even satin or dewey) will highlight any imperfections and wrinkles, even more so in photos where light will simply bounce off every wrinkle as if you've applied highlighter on those areas.  While I don't wear foundation anymore, I've tried them all.  The "cheaper" Revlon New Complexion is amazing at what it does.

Hope that helps,

Carmen

Happy Monday everyone!

I did reach out to Jenny and wanted to share with you some of the tips that I shared that Christine and I  use for our foundation.

If you invest in ONE thing in your femme journey, (provided you want to wear make-up as everyone has different preferences), it should be a good foundation!  Christine uses Anastasia Beverly hills.  I would also recommend MAC Studio Fix.

Start with a very clean face.  Also, buy some witch hazel.  I prefer the spray, but you can use a cotton puff if you prefer.  This will help close your pores.  Don’t wash it off.  Next step is to use Milk of Magnesium.  Apply it on your face as you would a moisturizer.  Which you should also be using on a regular basis. Start wih a capful and then see how much you need to cover your face.  Let it dry completely before applying your foundation. Don’t wash it off.  It is your primer. This trick is great for smoothing out skin, especially if older.  Buy a make-up sponge to apply your foundation.  It will come out much smoother.

If you have not had much experience in make-up, go with more natural tones… browns, taupe’s, etc.  Try and stay away from the blues pallets, they will make you look older.  I LOVE me a good blue... but I have to be careful!!  Also, use more of a brownish tone for your cheeks.  Suck in your cheeks and use the bone as your guide.  Make sure to blend!!!

The MOST IMPORTANT thing is to have fun!!!  This is just a little advise, and everyone is different.  If you are comfortable with foundation, I can help with other things if you like 😊 Much LOVE!

Hi Jenny!!!!

Here is what you're looking for:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Revlon-New-Complexion-One-Step-Compact-Makeup-Medium-Beige/12018696

Seems to be sold at most stores (At least here in CA).  You can also find quite a few reviews on it on Amazon.
