I am starting my journey which up to this point is me feeling free enough to where clothing that makes me feel good about myself. I would love to find someone to develop a friendship with and help me with the next steps. The courage to go out, to learn to do makeup, and help with shopping.
I am just so so self-conscious. Everyone seems so self confident and comfortable. I hope for the day, that I can feel the same.
@traciesmythe Tracy, glad you are here. Read the stories and other advice here, take your time don't don't go past your comfort zone. BUT sometimes I you need to to push yourself a little beyond your comfort zone, just to find where you want/need to be. Good luck.

@traciesmythe Welcome Tracie! You'll find a lot of like-minded people here and a lot of information that can be helpful to you. Give yourself time and take baby steps. At one time we were all in the same position as you looking to build confidence in ourselves and our female presentation. Now, quite a few of us have been able to integrate our femininity in our daily life and take it out into the world.
One thing I realized after some time which has been immensely helpful to me is that people are so into their own things that they hardly ever notice others. While for me, wearing a nice dress and heels in public is monumental, it doesn't mean anything to other people. Sure there will be ups and downs but in the long run, being authentic will be amazing.
To everyone, thank you so much for your words of encouragement. It is very nice and comforting to be so well welcomed. I have taken the advice and added to my profile to hopefully let everyone know a little more about me and my journey. So far the most eye-opening part is that as much as I think my journey is unique, it is the same as many others. The same fears and shyness but as with all things those things we can not accomplish alone can be done by many. Thank you all and look so forward to being able to hear the stories, learn, and become the person I can be.

Just remember to be patient with yourself. Confidence is built over time, putting layer over layer as you go.
I tend towards being self conscious also. I force myself to realize objectively, no one is really paying attention to me. A short walk is a good start and confidence builder. But, not going to lie, I have panicked and ran back to my car before. 😊 Baby steps. "One foot in front of the other..🎶"

Feelings of fear and shyness (amongst others) go with the territory, and much depends on how your own crossdressing is governed by your personal circumstances. Welcome to CDH Tracie! Living in Harrisburg, you are in the perfect location to learn a lot about crossdressing. The largest annual gathering of CD/trans ladies occurs in Harrisburg every year during the month of March. This year's Keystone Conference will be held from March 20-24, 2024. Last year, there were 700+ attendees, with around 50 CDH members there. Check out the website ( https://www.keystone-conference.org/). In addition to lunches & dinners, there will be a full schedule of seminars on makeup, clothing, mannerisms ..etc. If you attend you will also meet others from the PA area giving you an opportunity to develop a circle of CD friends.
