Hello,
My name is Joelle. I joined a couple of days ago.I'm 69, married, from Texas, and deeply closeted with the exception of my wife. I, like you travel down the road less traveled and my experiences mirror your own. The names change, the cities change, the dates change, and the rest of it is very similar.
Like you, I'm here to be with people who "get it". That in itself is enough reason and anything else is a bonus.
I am, like some, still stuck in neutral and I neither have the will nor the wherewithal to put it in "drive". I don't expect anyone to work magic. As you know, magic is the stuff of fairytales. I only say that as a statement of fact. The harsh reality is that some of us never figure this out.
The whole point of this topic is, after all, to introduce myself. I do not wallow in self-pity. God knows there are people who have a heavier cross to bear. But, your wife is okay with it you say, so why don't you get with the program Joelle? Damned if I know, and damned if the therapists can figure that one out.
I'm 69... not too old you say to embrace my femme side and you're probably right. On the other hand, I'm not one who surrenders easily, especially when I've come this far.
So why are you here Joelle? I already told you. I just want to "hang out" with those who feel what I feel. That's enough.
During my sojourn here, however long that may be, I can assure you I am a positive person, highly gregarious, curious as hell, and I might kid around with you until I get on your nerves. haha
I have been given a very warm welcome by staff and membership. It's the camaraderie thing big time. You know what I'm talking about.
So, I'm going to grab a coffee, snuggle in and try to make myself useful. Perhaps even, I might be able to run something by someone that can help. I hope so!

Hi J0elle-- welcome to C D H-- I am very much like you. Am 78yrs now, was married my wife has died 1998 from cancer.She knew i was a CD . we had fun together. Wore nighties to bed and we had 4 kids. I never dressed in front of kids. I have told my kids 6 months ago that dad is a CD, We had a very long talk, they are ok with it. But i have not dressed fully in front of them yet. Two of my daughters have been on site w/me to chat w/GIRLS.They had fun. Also I met two girls on site who have talked me into going to a CD meeeting here on long island NY, MY DAUGHTERS are doing my makeup for me.Everyone on this site is nice.I have been able to let Jennifer out and be alive chatting with her girlfriends. She is out more and more i am 78 but Jennifer is 21. she has a whole life to make up for, as she was hiding so long. Its her time now. Hope we can chat many times. I'm very glad your children are okay with dad being a CD, your daughters even to the point they help you with your makeup. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and sympathy on the loss of your dear wife. Thank you for the kind offer to chat via email and phone. I may take you up on that at some point.
- I had all but given up on ever coming to terms with my femme side but was curious about this site and decided to check it out. Frankly, I didn't expect so much generosity and warm toward me here in the forum and in the chatroom. Frankly, it has given me hope where there hasn't been any in a very long time.
