You've just joined a very warm and supportive group, and if you're looking for advice then you couldn't have come to a better place.

I'm gathering from your introductory post and from the information in your profile that this might even be your first time dressing. Is that right?

Before people start replying to you, they might want to know a little about your circumstances. That will obviously have an impact on the advice that we offer. For instance, do you live on your own or is there anyone else in the house? Do you have any clothes yet or do you still need to get some?

We'll then be able to "tailor" our replies appropriate to your situation. I can say, with a high degree of certainty, there will be some here who are, or have been, in the same place as you.

@emily833 Hi Emily, we "met" on the chat line last night. 

I do understand how it feels to have these urges and the desire to fulfill them. I do have to warm you though, it's essentially a one-way trip. Once you've tasted of that fruit, you'll never be able to go back. Oh, you might "purge" from time to time, but the desire always returns. 

But since you seem committed to this, the first thing I would counsel is patience. You can't rush things and it takes time to build up a suitable collection of feminine clothing. Along with everything else that goes with it. Soon you'll want makeup, shoes, accessories and all sorts of feminine products that you'll use to help yourself look pretty. Then later perhaps, a wig (and you won't be able to stop at one) breast forms, padding, etc. It's a never ending process, and since your wife doesn't know, you'll have a hard time keeping it all secret from her. 

For now, start small. I don't think you'll be ready for some time to go out dressed, so one or two simple outfits and maybe a little makeup and a few accessories should work for you at first. 

Like I suggested last night, you should try to figure out your sizes ASAP. You can do this by browsing catalogs or websites and following their sizing guides. Pay particular attention to your chest measurements. 

Men and women are built differently and you'll find that out very quickly. Not only are women generally smaller, they're shaped very differently. Your best bet is to find items with stretchy fabrics. And watch out for Asian sizes. They run much smaller than American/European sizes. 

Likewise, shoes. You might have to shop online for shoes from a site that caters to crossdressers where larger sizes are available. 

I shop from several websites for plus-sized women, and sometimes they carry shoes in larger sizes too, and more "normal" styles; lower heels, more roomy fit. 

I used to shop in department stores but the selection of style in larger sizes is limited and you might not find anything you like easily. Online shopping is better and less stressful but I have found some workable items at a local thrift store. You can get things at rock bottom prices and if for some reason they don't work out, you're not out a lot of money and you can just donate them back.

Every crossdressing session requires planning and the first time is no exception. You have to give yourself time to get dressed and time to get undressed and cleaned up and get your stuff out away before your wife returns. If you haven't done your shopping yet, you'll need to work that into your schedule too. If you're not ordering online, you should probably give yourself a day or even two to find what you want. 

It's not easy going out and shopping for women's clothes as a man for the first time. I've solved that problem by not paying any attention to anyone around me. Most people are so wrapped up in their own affairs that they pay little if any attention to those around them. So walk on in, bold as brass and get some shopping done. If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way.

Best wishes and best of luck as you start your journey. One thing you have going for you is- all of us! I wish there had been such a thing as the Internet when I first became interested. There was a crossdressing community of sorts, but deep in the shadows with a lot of unsavory elements. Things are more open nowadays,.but you still need to be on your guard. But don't.let that stop you. Have fun with it, and be glad!
