Hi just joined. I am 60 and been crossdressing since a teenager. I have gone through the cycle of collecting things the throwing them away, purging . Guilt and self loathing for awhile until the cycle would repeat every few years. But no longer!! My wife is unaware I have had this epiphany.  So I have a growing hidden stash and dress when I can en femme.  I am tentatively reaching out to discover a supportive community.

Welcome to CDH Carrie-Anne.

You’ve come to the right place. We are very friendly and supportive.

How you’ve described your story so far is pretty common here.
A lot of us, myself included, are in the closet, and a growing hidden stash is also pretty common!

Hi Carrie-Ann, welcome to CDH.

Lovely to greet another UK girl. I'm just up the A19 from you, in Tyne & Wear. My story looks very similar to yours. And yes, you are definitely not alone! The purging, the guilt, the secrecy, are all very common. So too are the feelings of exhilaration, freedom and completion that crossdressing brings us. You are in good company.

If you are looking for a supportive community, you've found it. There are plenty of like-minded ladies here, with bags of experience to share. Please do not hesitate to keep on reaching out to us with questions or requests for advice. You can be sure that you will receive positive and helpful responses. We're all in the same boat!

@carrieanne welcome to CdH from another UK girl living in Somerset.

Secret mature crossdresser who loves to wear panties or thong and a short skirt.Purged many times but the urge and desire comes back.

@carrieanne Hi Carrie-Anne

OMG ... another UK girl joins the site and I almost miss her 🙁

That means I have to give you an EXTRA large welcome and a very special welcoming emoji.

Bunny Heart

(Sorry, the selection's a bit limited. You almost ended up with a puffer fish 🙂 )

WELCOME to the site Carrie-Anne. This is indeed a VERY supportive community. I can't say it any better than my lovely friend Jacqui did:

You are definitely not alone! The purging, the guilt, the secrecy, are all very common. So too are the feelings of exhilaration, freedom and completion that crossdressing brings us. You are in good company.

There's loads to explore here. Take time doing that, and if you need any help then don't feel shy about asking.

Hugs

Thankyou so much. It's amazing how at home I already feel after a lifetime of repression and denial and being careful. Its SO exciting, I feel younger and it's so nice to allow myself to feel like a woman and think like one. (Even if I dont look like one  ha esp now in the drab. Though fairly smart I might add). Yes I am looking forwards to exploring. And the emoji is adorable

I know exactly what you mean about the 'lifetime of being careful'.

However I stuck two fingers up to being careful around 6 months ago, and stopped being in denial about 15 years before that. It's hugely liberating 🙂

@carrieanne No ... it's not that at all. I wouldn't say that I'm confident. I just got fed up with hiding who I was after a lifetime of doing so.

I'm transgender 🙂

So what?

It isn't anything to be be worried about, or ashamed of.

It doesn't stop me being cute and adorable *LOL*.

This is ME.

Increasingly, I'm thinking: 'This is who I am, there's nothing wrong with that, so what does it matter who knows? It's my life.'

I have to admit that I quite like the phrase 'joyful disregard', but believe me it took a LONG time to get to this point.

If I was still in a relationship then things might be different. But I'm out to my Mum and my sister and they're fully supportive so ... onwards and upwards!

*Ellie is grateful that she thought twice about typing 'to infinity and beyond' at the end of the last sentence*

It's funny how society can make it so difficult to 'to be ones self', it is so good to have support and I hope you can live with some joyful disregard. I am going to try it out myself when I get the chance!!

Irreverent nonchalance! Something to aspire too. Hmmm high split pencil skirt, heels of course and a red blouse with a full lip pout walking arround..... a church.

@jacquelinelarkspur @ellyd22 I just love the two of you when you get going - this sequence of posts has had me in fits of laughter 🤣  I just hope I get to meet you both together at some point, I'm sure you'll be the life and soul of the party between you!

On a more serious note, @ellyd22 I really feel like I can understand you from your posts.  I certainly don't have the same experiences as you to be able to relate directly to what you're saying, but because you have such a wonderful writing style, I don't have to 🙂  Expressive yet concise and often humorous at the same time. I know I'm not the first person to comment on it either.

OK Fiona, you can stop fan-girling now 😉  but seriously, each new Ellie post is a new pleasure - thank you 🤗

@finallyfiona Thank you, but I'm sure lots of people just roll their eyes and keep scrolling when we really go off one. We have an unfortunate habit of hijacking other people's posts with bizarre side-threads, and I can well imagine that could result in a few members tutting and frowning at the screen. I hope not.

We try to balance it out with serious posts as well 🙂

The ultimate combination (if you were after an evening of sheer freewheeling nonsense) would possibly be me, @jacquelinelarkspur and @melodeescarlet. The three of us definitely have a similar sense of humour*

Hugs

Thank you. It's all meant in fun. As my partner in crime @ellyd22 has said, there are probably some (not lots, fingers crossed) who see us start bantering and say "Uh-oh, they're off again," then begin hatching plots against us involving rope and jelly babies. We've had no complaints so far, touch wood.

I'd been wondering where all the jelly babies were going.

I've hidden exploding dye packages in some of them, so it shouldn't be too long before we find out who's involved.

When shall they three meet ag'in. In tights, lingerie, or satin? When the jelly-babies done. When the biscuits found and gone. [With apologies to Shakespeare; and I'm sure Ellie could do a lot better ...]

I for one would miss the banter if it does not continue; it would be like the Old Faithful geyser* going on strike; long may the banter continue.

--------------

*Footnote: please not I am NOT implying these are three geezers; such a male descriptor would be anathema for such lovely ladies; moreover I don't think there is a female equivalent of the word.

However, if any budding etymologists care to look into the origin of the word 'geezer' they may find it is not entirely inappropriate for crossdressers 😀 .

@fembecky Geezer ... guiser ... disguiser 🙂

My Nan was a cockney, would you Adam and Eve it.

Nan was also Ellen (my name). She always shortened it to Nellie, even though that has more letters.

@fembecky I already knew where ’Geezer’ came from, but I’ve no idea how. My bacon rind tends to store nuggets away like that. My Nan used to use rhyming slang all the bird lime, and me old Mum still does occasionally.

@lucyb112 Yes ... it's the role of 'Third (crossdressing) barmaid' at the Queen Vic.

*Clears throat and glances down at script*

Well, you got it in one. Clever old you. Giv yourself a big pat on the back. I was a geezer, now I ain't. Nuffin' wrong wiv liking a frock. Most people in 'ere ain't bovvered, so you can just leave it aht. Now, get this down your neck, you muppet. And if you say another word, I'll do you one.

The ageing casting director raises a single eyebrow.

She opens her leather bound notebook, picks up her quill pen and makes a note in her usual exquisite handwriting.

‘Missed out the classic line “Get ahtta my pab!”’

Glances up at Ellie and says “Next……”

Ellie scowls at the casting director. She is about to make a withering comment, but decides against it. The woman simply isn't worth it. No common sense ... and ... she eyes her appraisingly ... no fashion sense either, it would appear.

Still, Eastenders' loss, Coronation Street's gain.

Ellie walks off set, taking the opportunity to drop a couple of powerful laxatives into the casting director's coffee as she brushes past.

The casting director turns her head from her conversation with the producer as the door slams.

“Petulant child” she says to herself.

Being as eagle eyed as ever, she notices the ripples on the top of her previously untouched cup of coffee. Glancing to her right she notices that the producer is in now deep conversation with one of the younger female lighting assistants. Will he ever learn?

She takes the opportunity to silently switch cups.

”So that’s the last day here” he says, once his pathetic attempt to charm the young lady has been rebuffed. “What are you up to tomorrow?”

”Me?” says the casting director. “Oh I’m casting for Coronation Street”

@carrieanne Welcome.I am just a little bit older than you and have been crossdressing since I was twelve.Like yourself,I have been through the purging cycles but as of 2011,I have not thrown any clothes away and have built up quite an extensive wardrobe.I but femme clothes on a regular basis but it is nice to a few good skirts that are ten years old.Thankfully, they still fit me.The only clothes that I do throw away these days are ones that look a bit old fashioned.

@eldred hi Roberta I have had to limit what I have, and I find it difficult to buy clothes in a relaxed state so often what I thought would match does not! Arrhgh. So then it's an age before I can get another outfit together. But it's fun looking. X

Welcome Carrie-Anne. As Becca says there are plenty of UK girls here. And plenty of more mature ladies too. I think the need to dress girly intensifies with age and we maybe have more disposable income as we age. There's also the feeling of if not now then when?

This is such a welcoming, supportive and above all safe site. Look around, read the forums and articles, ask questions, the girls will all jump in with help. If you fancy it, flesh out your profile a bit and let us know a little more about you.

I am one of the more mature girls, wife doesn't know. If it helps my experience of being out dressed amounts to walking around my patio late at night in 3 inch heels.

Hugs, Chrissie xx.

Welcome to CDH it's nice to meet you we are like one big happy family on here so don't be shy come on in and join the family,

I'm a mature crossdresser too I've been dressing most of my life since i was about 8 or 9 years old when i tried my older sister's lingerie on, I'm still in the closet to my wife and family, I think all the girls on here have been through the same sort of thing as you, feeling guilty and ashamed, purging and then starting dressing again, and going through it all again,

I'm a UK girl too I'm down in Shropshire, I'm sure there are lots of girls near to where you live who will be happy to meet up with you for a coffee and a chat I'm sure you will find lots of friends on here so if you have any questions just ask and the girls will get back to you X

Hi Carrie-Anne,

I am a bit younger than you but have a very similar experience when it comes to accepting myself.

I thought that I had my epiphany a year or so ago but somehow ended up going even further the other way.

this time I'm taking it slower and trying to meet others to chat to share experiences in the hope I can improve my relationship with dressing.

would love to chat if you wanted to let me know.

Hi Yvette

Thankyou from upNorthhhh. My kids all live in London and I went to Uni there where they all thought I was from the north, but everyone up here thought I was from the south!! So not belonging was a theme for a while. But life is a passage to conquer
