Hi Everyone,
I joined this site a while ago, but never really wrote about myself as I'm shy and nervous about all of this, so please bear with me. I think I always wanted to be a girl, some of my earliest memories, pictures of me, and home-movies show me playing dolls with the other little girls on our block, sometimes wearing a Sun-dress. When my older sister and her friend outgrew letting me play with them, another little girl moved on to our street and we played dolls together, hop-scotch, jax, and roller skates until I was about 12.
I rarely played with the boys, and I still don't know much about sports. I had my own doll-babies and doll-coach as I'd inherit my older sister's toys as she got new ones. My mom never discouraged it, but would simply say I was going to grow up "queer" and live with men like her Uncle and cousin.
Our home movies and picture albums show that my Halloween costumes consisted of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, among others. I'm in my late 50's now, and maybe I'm too old and shy, but I'd love to start crossdressing privately. I'm not sure how to start, I guess I could buy stuff online, but where could I learn how to get started ?
Thanks Everyone !
Laura
Hi Laura, and welcome!!! This is an absolutely fantastic sorority of gals you've joined up with here on this site. I've found this place to be an incredibly warm, friendly, encouraging, and supportive resource and I've made some great new friends here.
There are TONS of wonderfully written articles and "how-to's" available throughout the website to help you get started on your journey, but I find that chatting with the other ladies on here is by far the best means of learning the "ins and outs" of it all.
Glad you're here with us, and don't be nervous or hesitate to reach out and message/friend request the wonderful gals on here... while our individual situations and experiences may be different, we certainly all have some very similar stories and advice we can share with each other. Talk to ya soon!! 🙂

Oh Thank you ! I'll check out the "how to's", and try to find the courage to move forward with some. Thank you !!
Hi Laura, and welcome to CDH. It's very nice to meet you.
A few weeks or so ago, I posted a link that I found useful for converting men's clothing sizes to women's. I'll see if I can dig it up again for you.
I find a ton of great stuff on Amazon. And I have a Prime membership, so I get free 2-day shipping and the absolute easiest returns I've ever experienced. The only caveat I'll give about Amazon is to pay attention to the seller - if they're from China, the sizes all run incredibly small. For example, I'm usually an XL top; I recently bought a cute tank-top, that showed as being XL, but it barely fit my daughter, who wears between a 6 and an 8, depending on the manufacturer. I also have some good luck on eBay, often looking for what they call "mixed lots." My only real problem there is looking for sizes can be tough in that case, because I'm an XL (16) top and a 12 bottom.
As Lauren said, there's a ton of great stuff already posted throughout the various forums. So please go and give things a read. And anything you're not sure on, just ask. The gals here are all great about giving advice and sharing their experiences.
Laura,
Welcome to CDH, you came to the right place to learn about this. You will find lots of supportive friends here, all at various phases of discovering our femme side.

Hi Laura,
Do try the"how to's" and advice from the girls and forums here at CDH. I feel I am a work in progress and "practice makes permanent". Sooner or later I will be the woman I want to be.

I also would love that link that converts sizes as I'm going to start making my wardrobe larger.
Thanks a lot
Jackie
Hi Laura and welcome! You'll be amazed at how much help you can get from the ladies here, whether it's through private chats or in the forums. I've learned quite a bit over the last month and a half. This was the first place I've ever really opened up to anyone about crossdressing and it feels so awesome to be honest with myself about it. I understand what it is to be hesitant, but you're not alone here. Just go at your own pace and feel free to share as you feel comfortable. There's no judgement here!
