I, too, am currently closeted, but have no immediate plans for “my first outing.” But I love hearing about fellow Louisianans at CDH getting out and about, having CD fun in the city. Welcome Reece! Former Leesville resident here but sadly been confined to the valley of the shadow of California for the foreseeable future.
As far as clothing goes, as a fellow amazon at 6'2" and down to 250ish, the old axiom "measure twice, cut once" applies, only replace "cut" with "buy". I do most of my shopping on Amazon (pun only partially intended) and if you're careful to look at the seller size charts I think you'll find a lot of stuff that will work for you there. Of course if you're brave enough to shop in person (I'm mostly not) that's even better.
