Hi my name is Joanna, I don’t mind if I’m called Jo or Jojo.
I’ve been dressing as joanna for around 6 or 7 years, but well before that, from around the age of 13 I guess.
I live in the U.K. but luckily I get to travel all over the world.
It feels so good to join a community which hopefully has the same outlook on life as I do💕
Recently I’ve been venturing out into the big bad world fully en femme & I still get goosebumps, but a wonderful feeling of being at peace with my feelings, which for years told me this is wrong.

I live in a fairly red neck state which is American slang for not very open-minded people in general. There are a few places around here that I might feel ok going out en femme, but I have not ventured that far yet. I applaud anyone with the courage to do it. You are braver than I am at this point. I still have a beard and none of my friends even know what I look like clean shaven. I'm not sure if I would recognize myself with a smooth face. I look at some of these ladies with the wigs and makeup and I'm amazed at how beautiful they are. I picture myself as an ugly duckling trying to be a swan. Well one day at a time.
Welcome, by the way, you are among friends. The ladies here are very supportive and loving.

I travel for a living so I’ve always got some feminine clothes in my bag, time doesn’t always allow for anything more than a little private dressing.
To have time to get fully En Femme isn’t that easy to come by, but I’m always learning & trying to get a look that’s passable in the real world.

One of the best things about the Internet is that there are sites like this - and this is the best, most supportive site for crossdressers. When I and a lot of us here were growing up, ours was a mostly solitary activity shrouded in loneliness and guilt. Fortunately all that's changed.
This is such a wonderful community to be part of, so don't hesitate to join in whenever you like!

That’s not an issue for me, but it’s lovely that there are others close by. Chatting & potentially meeting others in a safe friendly environment is something I thought would never be a possibility.
I’m going to read lots over the next few weeks & see if I can pick up tips on makeup & clothing, who knows where this journey will go.

CDH has members all over the world. While the majority are in the US and Canada, we also have a LOT of UK members now, and that number is growing very quickly. I know we have around 45K members in total; it would be interesting to know roughly how many of those are in the UK.
You'll also find that several of the Forums staff are UK based. There's me of course, but you'll also spot Jacqueline Larkspur, Lucy Bancroft and Angela Booth 🙂
So rest assured, there are a lot of UK girls out there. You're not alone!

It took a little digging to find that data. UK membership is easily the 2nd highest among our 45100 members. As expected, the US has the most members. As of today, there are 5951 members from the UK. Here are the top 5 countries.

Wow ... that's really useful information.
I'd guessed that there were maybe around 4000 members in the UK, so to find out that there are almost 6000 is amazing. Now we can throw that figure out whenever a new UK member says 'I thought I was alone' 🙂
And each of those other totals is also fascinating in its own right.

I was actually thinking about that while staring at a spreadsheet. It would be an interesting topic.
I was also surprised by the UK statistic. I'd assumed Canada would be 2nd highest because of proximity to the US. And that may have been true at one time. But we know there's been huge growth from the UK in recent years. Considering the UK has 67M people vs 39M for Canada, that shouldn't be surprising.
For anyone that's wondering, there isn't a page on CDH that lists membership by country. It would be a nice addition to the site. Membership data can be found by querying the member directory (Social>Member Directory) and doing a simple calculation.

When you take the population of each of the top three countries into account the figures are relatively close to each other.
USA: population 333.29 million, 24693 members, % of population = 0.0074%
UK: population 66.97 million, 5951 members, % of population = 0.0089%
Canada: population 39.08 million, 2180 members, % of population = 0.0056%

I’m already feeling so blessed with all the wonderful greetings I’ve received in such a short space of time. Maybe I should have joined years ago!
I will in time post some stories about my journey as Joanna, I’m sure they are well trodden paths though, my most amazing story is the first venture outside fully En Femme. I still can’t quite believe I did it!
For now I’m going to read, learn & digest as much of the experiences from all the lovely girls in the community as possible, everyday is a school day!
I’m very lucky as I travel the world for a living, but Montana is a place I’ve never been to Stateside…. Big country isn’t it? Parts look absolutely amazing.
