You will certainly be thanking your friend for introducing you to this site. I joined about 5 years ago but was fairly dormant on the site until about 18 months ago; it was then that I really started exploring, interacting and contributing on the site and really changed things for me. So I encourage you to get stuck in right away and enjoy this place. Don't languish in the background like I did.

I can relate to that myself. But one of the best definitions of an introvert that I have come across is a person who derives much of their drive, ideas, style, ambition and achievement from internal thought and stimuli, rather than from just external sources (which is more the case with extroverts). So I don't think of being an introvert as a negative trait, nor does it necessarily imply shyness ... there is so much we introverts can achieve 😀 .

You know i was born and raised maybe 50 miles south of you then moved to Montana 17 years ago so we have a connection all ready yea for us ..
